1. Which among the 4 definitions match or close to your own definition of


leadership? Briefly explain your answer.

Among the four definitions given by the following personalities, the one that is
the closest to what I believe defines leadership is Bill Gates’ definition because
like him, I also believe that having influence is a vital ability of being a leader
because influencing others is impacting their attitude, opinions, behaviors, beliefs,
choices, etc. Having influence means that your opinion is taken seriously by people
thus leading to a more effective leadership.

2. Among the Five Styles of Leadership, which do you think will be more
effective on your part as a member/ follower? Why?
A. Laissez-Faire Leadership
B. Autocratic Leadership
C. Participative Leadership
D. Transactional Leadership
E. Transformational Leadership
Among the five styles of leadership, I envision that the participative leadership
is the one that will be more effective on me as a member of the society because I
believe that the leader’s opinion should not solely be the foundation of a goal and
that the words of the people should also be heard in order to have a more unified
and equal decision. Additionally, it also allows people to be involved and
effectively portray their own individual roles in society thus resulting to a more
united society.

3. Base on the 5 Levels, which do you consider in following a certain leader


and why?
A. Level 1 – Position Rights
People follow the leader because they must.
B. Level 2: Permission – Relationships
People follow the leader because they want to.
C. Level 3: Production – Results
People follow the leader because of what he has done for the organization.
D. Level 4: People Development – Reproduction
People follow the leader because of what he invested and done for them.
E. Level 5: Personhood – Respect
People follow the leader because of who he/she is and what he/she stands for.
Level 4: People development is what I think is my basis for following a certain
leader because it is important for me to choose a leader that gives consistent effort
and time to empower his/her people. Having a leader that has compassion and is
able to share knowledge and wisdom to the people is a leader that I want because
the people are able to feel that they are valued thus creating a deeper trust and
compassion towards each other which I see leads to a society that has a goal of
empowering and helping each other and a society where everybody will thrive for
the betterment of many.
4. Between being a Leader and being a Follower, which would you choose
and why?
I believe that I would fit in better as a follower for now because I know that I
lack that ability to influence and to have an impact although I want to be able to
someday, I am aware that my capabilities at the moment are not fitting enough for
a leader. I believe that as much as being a leader is important, being an effective
follower is equally important because a good leadership is nothing if the followers
do not take in the goals and vision of the leader making it hard to achieve the goal.
Moreover, a follower isn’t just someone who follows whatever the leader and
majority does, a follower should be someone who is effective in sharing ideas,
expressing their thoughts, and contributing alongside others because he/she is
aware of his/her individual role which I think works effectively for my current self.
Although I may be surfing along with the waves at the moment but I surely hope
that I can someday be a wave who stands out and be someone who will also take
on the lead.
