AFRITURKIYE
DENTAL AND
IMPLANT CENTER
Improving Smiles and Enhancing Lives
Executive Summary
Problem
Tanzania's dental care infrastructure is woefully inadequate, with only 107 registered
dental clinics serving a vast population of over 63 million people. This scarcity of dental
facilities disproportionately affects Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city, where only 75 of
the 107 clinics are located. This concentration of dental services in Dar es Salaam leaves
the majority of Tanzanians, residing outside the city, with severely limited access to quality
dental care. Furthermore, the majority of these clinics are basic dental clinics, with only 14
comprehensive dental clinics and 19 specialized dental clinics capable of performing
implant procedures. This lack of specialized dental care facilities further exacerbates the
issue of poor access to quality dental care.
Problem Highlight
Shortage of dental care facilities: Tanzania has only 107 registered
dental clinics for a population of over 63 million people.
Disproportionate access to dental care: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's
largest city, has 75 of the 107 dental clinics, leaving the majority of
Tanzanians with limited access to quality dental care
Lack of specialized dental care: Only 14 of the 107 dental clinics are
comprehensive dental clinics, and only 19 can perform implant
procedures.
Poor access to quality dental care: The lack of specialized dental
care facilities and the high cost of dental care contribute to poor
access to quality dental care for many Tanzanians
