SAT Math Formulas, Definitions

SAT: Heart of Algebra Formulas

Lines / Linear Growth Simple / Compound Interest Distance / Midpoint

Compounding - Annual Rate: Distance between two points:
Standard Form: Ax + By = C
Slope = - A / B

Compounding - Non-Annual:
Point-Slope Form: (y - y1) = m(x - x1)
Slope = m Midpoint:

Simple Interest
Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b
Slope = m

Slope: Definitions Distance / Rate

X-intercept: Where the line crosses the Distance = Rate * Time

Parallel lines: Slope = same x-axis; Where y = 0
Perpendicular lines: Other line’s slope
is negative reciprocal of 1st line Y-intercept: Where the line crosses the
m1 * m2 = -1 y-axis; Where x = 0
SAT: Data Analysis Formulas

Statistics Percents

Mean:

Median = Middle value in the list;

Average middle numbers if even
number of values

Probability
Mode = Value that appears most often

Standard Deviation = Measure of how

far the numbers deviate from the mean
(average)

Exponents Factoring Quadratic Equation

Follow MADSPM: Standard Form:
- Multiply / Add
- Divide / Subtract
- Power / Multiply`
Quadratic Equation:

Discriminant: Portion under the square root

Parabola Radicals

Standard form:
Vertex = -b/2a

Vertex form:
Vertex = (h,k)
