 Max Has
a Bad Night

 Max has a wigwam in his garden.
It is a big wigwam.
It has a bed in it and a porch, too.

Max can see a pair of boots and a
box in the corner of the wigwam.
Max puts a torch on the box.

 It is midnight and Max is
in the wigwam. He is in bed.

Max hears an owl hoot.
The owl is far off in the night.

 Max shivers in the moonlight.
Then he hears a burp in the garden.
Is it a fox? Can a fox burp?

Max gets his boots, picks up the
torch and looks out.
All is still. He cannot see a fox.

 Then Max hears a soft buzzing.
He shivers and looks up.
It is just a jet in the night.

Next Max hears a
drip … drip … drip …
Oh no! That is rain!
Will Max get wet?

 “Mum! Dad!” yells Max. “I QUIT!”

Mum and Dad run to the wigwam
and look in.
“No problem, Max! We can set up
the wigwam in your bedroom.”

 Max is in his wigwam in his room.
He is in his bed.
But now the sun is up. Max must
get up!
