INTRODUCTION
‘The AERONAUTICAL ACCESSORIES, INC. FAST ROPE KITS (412-500-001/-101,-002/-
4102, -003/-103, 004-104, or-005/-105)on Bell 205A, 2054-1, 2058212, 412,412EP, and
UH-1H Model helicopters permit insertion of Special Operations personnel from the
passenger compartment. FAST ROPE operations can be performed from the UH, the
IH, or both sides ofthe helicopter with the door(s) opened or removed depending upon
mmission requirements
Section 1:
FAST ROPE KITS are limited to a maximum of 1040lb per side during operations.

2.1. Daily/prefgh’ Inspection
‘The Daily/Prefigh inspection consists ofthe following items:
1. Remove the UH & RIH Tube Retaining Pins and push the Tubes tothe extended
position
2. Replace the Retaining Pins to hold the tube in the extended position,
3. Inspect the Support Structure for nicks, scratches, dents, cracks or corrosion
NoTE
Particular care should be taken t0 inspect in the areas of the
bolts end screws fastening the Support Structure to the
Transmission Bulkhoads,

4. Inspect the Support Structure attaching Fasteners for security,
5. Remove the L/H and R/H Primary Release Handle Safety Pin and Both
Secondary Release Safety Pin.
6, Actuate Both Primary Release Handles and check for proper rod and Release
‘mechanism function. Ensure that the Rope Bar falls to the vertical position,
7. Inspect the LM side of the tubes for nick, scratches, dents, cracks or corrosion.
8. Using the Lit Secondary Release Handle, reset the Rope Bar to the engaged
(horizontal) position. Actuate the Handle and check that the Rope Bar falls to
the vertical position and inspect all remaining Release Mechanism hardware for
‘any damage or corrosion. Check all Release Mechanism Fasteners for security.
9, Install the Rope on the Release Mechanism,
10, Replace the Secondary Release Handle Safety Pin (if required).
11. Repeat steps 7 & 8 for the RIM side of the tubes and the R/H Release
Mechanism.
12, Remove the Tube Retaining Pins and pull the Tubes to the retracted position.

22 Operations:
NOTE
These instructions deal primal with mechanical operation of
the FAST ROPE kit, Itis the responsibilty ofthe operator to
‘establish detailed mission operating procedures,
NOTE
The following procedures are designed for approaching the
insertion/extraction site with the Cabin Doors closed. For fair
‘weather operations, the Doors may be opened or removed
which will allow steps 1 thru 4 to be accomplished before fight
if desired
‘At one minute out from the insertionfextraction site: LH andlor R/H Door
(open as required).
2. Ut andlor R/H Tube Retention Pins - Remove
3. UH andlor RIM Telescoping Tubes - Extend
4, UM andlor RH Tube Retention Pins - Insert
5. UH andlor RIM Primary Release Handle Safety Pins - Remove.
6. Atinsertion/extraction site: Ropes - out
7. When all personnel have reached the ground: L/H andlor RIM Primary
Release Handles ~ Actuate
8. LUM andlor RH Primary Release Handle Safety Pins - Insert
8. UH andlor RIH Tube Retention Pins - Remove.
10. iM andlor RIH Telescoping Tubes - Retract.

NOTE
In order to reset the Release Mechanism Rope Bar it is
necessary to have the tube slightly extended. If Bar reset is
required, perform this action prior to completely retracting tube.
