Writing notes: invitations

 Invite that person to something or to do something


 Use:
o I´m writing to invite you to … my birthday party on the
3rd of July.
o Would you + verb…: Would you come and enjoy the
holidays with us? Richard and I would be delighted if
you accepted.
o Would you like to (verb)…: Would you like to come to
dinner next Friday?
o Shall we …? (invitations): Shall we go out tonight?

 After the invitation you can add the following sentences:


Think about it … and tell me soon.
Let me know… if you can come. I hope you can. I really hope you can come.

Practise

 Write a text message to your teacher asking if she would like to come to a
party. Include the date, time and place. (About 40 words)

 You want to go to the cinema with a friend. Invite your friend .


Say what film you want to see.
Where and when to meet you. (40 words)

 You want to go cycling with your friend, David, tomorrow morning.


Write a note to invite him
Say where to meet you and at what time.
Also, what he has to bring. (40 words)

 You are organizing a party for your friends for next Friday.
Write a message inviting them. Say when and where the party is and what food
and drinks there will be. (45 words)
