Minto Hall
Minto Hall being Bhopal’s prime
identity has now renovated as an
international convention center. The
main hall is used as a multipurpose
hall for occasions like conferences,
banquets, felicitations, etc. but
because of its prior originality it is
considered as a heritage site.
All Water Air Conditioning System
An all-water air conditioning system is
a type of cooling system that uses
water as the primary coolant to cool
down the air in a building or space.
The setup relies on water to absorb
heat from the air and carry it away.
The water is circulated through a
cooling tower, where it releases the
heat and becomes cool again. The
cooled water is then used to cool the
air through a series of coils or pipes.
This type of system is often used in
large commercial buildings or
industrial facilities to reduce the duct
size and space requirements.
Design considerations
What all design consideration are considered for a heritage site-

● Aesthetics of the building

● Noise Reduction
● Adaptability & zoning for different spaces
● Integrating components into the existing building infrastructure
● Maintenance accessibility
● Material

The full form of IPS

Flooring is Indian Patent
stone. It provides good

used in all types of
flooring. It is mixed with
concrete in 1:1:5:3

What is VRF system?
VRF stands for variable refrigerant flow.Consist
of outdoor units connected to multiple indoor units
via refrigerant piping to provide cooling and heating to
individual zones. The outdoor units can modulate
capacity based on the requirements of the individual
zones, thus saving energy by not always running at
100% capacity and improving occupant comfort by
maintaining temperature as needed in each individual
zone.

● In the adjacent rooms of the hall

Ducts are passed through the false
ceiling.

● VRF system is used in this rooms.

Pros and Cons of the VRF System in Minto Hall

Pros of VRF Cooling Systems:

● Energy Efficiency: VRF systems are generally more energy-efficient
compared to traditional HVAC systems. They can adjust the
refrigerant flow to match the specific heating or cooling needs of
different zones, reducing energy consumption.
● Individual Zone Control: VRF systems allow for individualized
control of temperature in different zones or rooms. This level of
control can lead to improved comfort and energy savings.
● Design Flexibility: VRF systems offer flexibility in system design,
making them suitable for a variety of building types and sizes. They
can accommodate changes in the building layout more easily than
some traditional systems. For example; Ground ducts, Ducts
through False Ceiling catering to needs of different spaces.
● Zoning Capability: The ability to zone different areas independently
allows for better control over the HVAC system, enabling users to
tailor the comfort levels to specific needs.
Cons of VRF Cooling Systems:
● Initial Cost: The initial cost of installing a VRF system can
be higher than that of traditional HVAC systems. The cost
may be a significant factor for some projects.
● Complexity: VRF systems can be more complex in terms
of design and installation, requiring skilled professionals
for proper setup and maintenance. This complexity may
also result in higher installation costs.
● Ground Ducts Placement: The ground ducts do not
provide an equal cooling effect as the ducts are placed at
a distance of around 1.8m and when chairs are placed in
the main hall. Some of the ducts come directly below the
chairs cooling one person but other don’t

Cooling Tower
What is cooling tower?

A cooling tower is a specialized heat

exchanger in which air and water are
brought into direct contact with each other
in order to reduce the water's temperature.
Most commonly, they are used to remove
heat from the condenser water leaving a
chiller. Cooling towers are usually located
on rooftops or other outdoor sites.
