You are the PM for a new project and have figured out the following dependencies.

• Activity A can start immediately and has an estimated duration of four weeks.

Activity B can start after activity A is completed and has an estimated duration of
three weeks.

• Activity C can start after activity A is completed and has an estimated duration of
five weeks.

• Activity D can start after Activity B is completed and has an estimated duration
of eight

weeks.

• Activity E can start after Activity D is completed and after Activity C is


completed. This

activity takes five weeks.

1. Draw the PERT network diagram.

2. What is the duration of the critical path. The critical path is the longest path
through the network. (22

3.What is the float of activity C? Float (slack) is the total time that a task can be

delayed without delaying the project. For Activity C, it is the time between the

earliest start and the latest start without delaying the project, which is 0 weeks.

4. Activity B is on the critical path, so it has 0 float. Any delay in Activity B will

directly impact the project duration.

5. The path with the longest float is the one not on the critical path.
