DESCRIPTION

1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The MicroZed v3.5 elevator controller module contains all the necessary components to control the elevator and
to simultaneously ensure the protection of the elevator and user against faulty conditions. It can operate in a
group of up to 4 elevators. In addition, this module has a user-friendly interface consisting of one 24-characters
by 2-lines LCD alphanumeric display and three push buttons to access the different pages, menus and
parameters editing (the display is sold separately). The outputs are capable of driving both AC and DC
contactors. Controller has an incremental encoder interface used optionally for floor information (Slow down
and final stop). Outputs, Inputs and calls are user configurable. In call multiplexing mode, the controller can
service up to 16/9 floors in down/full collective simplex. The firmware could be upgraded on site.
Furthermore, the MicroZed v3.5 controller has a serial RS485 port enabling it to be connected to a hand held
diagnostic tool (sold separately).
An optional CAN bus port is available for serial calls.
An optional interface is available and it has a USB port, an ethernet port for internet connection and an RS232
port for a GSM modem connection.

4. VIEWING ERRORS AND ERRORS CODE DESCRIPTION

4.1 HOW TO VIEW THE ERRORS
Errors detected by the board are divided into three levels:

1. Level I errors: errors that block the elevator when they occur. But the elevator can resume operation right
after the error disappears.
2. Level II errors: errors that can be tolerated for a few occurrences before the elevator is blocked by the board.
The count of level II errors is shown on LCD Page 4. When the count of level II errors reaches the “Max. Count Of
Err”, the board will block the elevator.
3. Level III errors: errors that the board considers to be fatal and will block any further operation of the elevator.
Pressing the Select push button while on LCD Page 4 will prompt the board to start displaying the last 15 errors
saved in memory. The board begins by displaying the last error followed by the time, date of occurrence and the
floor where the error occurred. Press Previous or Next push buttons to display the previous or next error.

4.2 HOW TO ERASE THE ERRORS

To erase the errors as well as the count of level II errors from memory, enter the menu, go to Empty Fault Log
and press Select push button. You will be prompted to confirm your request. If Yes is pressed all errors are erased,
if No is pressed, errors are not affected.

5.9 ON-BOARD CALL REGISTRATION FUNCTION

The operator can give calls using the page “Simulate calls” to test the lift. Lift has to be in normal operation with no
faults. When SELECT is pressed, the display will show FL#. Use the PREV and NEXT push buttons to change the floor
selection. Once the desired floor is displayed, press SELECT push button, the display will show the calls available on
the floor selected. Push the appropriate button, the call for this floor is registered and the appropriate led will light
on the board as well as in the car or hall. The lift will proceed to serve this call. If no buttons are pressed within 5
seconds, the display will exit the call registration mode. The display will exit the floor selection mode if no buttons
are pressed for 5 seconds.

5.10 INSPECTION OPERATION

The display has to be on “Inspection operation” page. Lift has to be in inspection mode. INSPECTION OPERATION
can be done in 3 ways:

1. INSPECTION OPERATION VIA BOARD INPUTS: The INSP_DN and INSP_UP inputs are used.
2. INSPECTION OPERATION VIA PUSH BUTTONS: When SELECT is pressed, the NEXT and PREV push buttons
acts as INSP_DN and INSP_UP inputs respectively. To exit the inspection operation mode, press SELECT push
button. The board will also exit the inspection operation mode if no buttons are pressed within 10 seconds.
The INSP_DN and INSP_UP inputs have higher priority and will override the NEXT and PREV push buttons.
3. INSPECTION OPERATION VIA CAR PANEL: “Insp. Car Cmd” has to be set to Enabled in the “Site
Configuration” submenu. CC0 and CC1 call terminals acts as INSP_UP and INSP_DN inputs respectively.
Note that in serial mode, CT0 & CT1 physical terminals on Cartop are used for this feature independently
from the calls configuration.

In inspection mode operation, when the lift is stopped on a door zone, and ”Door Zone” Installed in the “Site
Configuration” submenu, If INSP_UP and INSP_DN inputs are both pressed (Via terminals, Via Car Command, Via
DiagnosticTool Push Buttons or Via LCD), door is opened.

Furthermore, in inspection mode operation, if “EOS During Insp” is set to Enabled in the “Site Configuration”
submenu, when the lift is going down and EOS_DN goes off, it stops immediately. When lift is stationed under
EOS_DN and INSP_DN order is given, lift doesn't move. When the lift is going up and EOS_UP goes off, it stops
immediately. When lift is stationed above EOS_UP and INSP_UP order is given, lift doesn't move.

if “EOS During Insp” is set to Disabled in the “Site Configuration” submenu, when the lift is going down with
inspection speed and EOS_DN goes off, the lift will switch to low speed and stop immediately when door zone is
reached. When the lift is going Up with inspection speed and EOS_UP goes off, the lift will switch to low speed and
stops immediately when door zone is reached.

5.11 CARCALL CANCELLATION

Carcall Cancellation can be set to DoubleCL/Disabled/OneClick.
- Touch panel is now supported by selecting “OneClick” for canceling the call
- When “CC Cancellation” is “DoubleCL “a registered carcall can be canceled by double clicking it.

5.12 DOOR MAPPING FOR TWO DOOR ENTRANCE

This feature is used when we have two doors in the same cabin: Door A and Door B. When “2Side Door F.” is
enabled in the menu, “Auto door mapping” appears and gives access to the sub menu “Floor # x Door Side”.
For each floor, it is possible to select door A or B or Both.
“A” side is controlled by the OPEN and CLOSE outputs.
“B” side is controlled by two spare outputs.
Ls-eo of both doors are connected in series.
Ls-ec of both doors are connected in parallel.
Photocell of door B is connected to any spare input.

5.13 INPUTS/OUTPUTS AND CALLS CONFIGURATION

Inputs, outputs and calls are now configurable to allow the user to freely assign different functions available. To
illustrate, if a call terminal is damaged, the technician can reassign this call to a different call terminal without
needing to replace the board (given that board has spare unused call terminals). The same applies to inputs and
outputs. This will save the technician the effort of replacing and repairing the board at every failure.
In Outputs Configuration, the output level voltage is not affected by the output configuration. To illustrate, A output
is an output with a high active level. When this output is active (whatever is the correspondent function assigned),
the terminal voltage level will be +22V
5. MENU

5.14 EN81-20 STANDARD FOR LIFTS

The EN81-20 feature allows the use of the standards for safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts. To
use this feature” Door Zone” must be Installed in the “Site Configuration” submenu, “EN81-20” has to be set to

8. MANUAL
FLOOR
ADJUSTMENT

8. MANUAL FLOOR ADJUSTMENT

Manual floor adjustment allows the installer to fine-tune the floor stopping position of the lift and should only be
done after learning trip procedure and distance calculation. Normally, if all DZ flags (or magnets) are accurately
positioned on the floor level, no additional floor tuning would be necessary. To manually adjust the floor level, the
following steps must be implemented:
1. Disable re-leveling feature.
2. Put lift in normal mode.
3. Give a car call to the lowest floor and record in a table the difference in the floor stopping position next to
floor 0 and proceed by giving car calls to stop on all the floors in the building and on each stop record the
difference in the floor stopping position next to the corresponding floor starting from floor1. It is good
practice to use positive values for stops lower than the floor position and to use negative values for stops
higher than the floor positions.
4. Repeat step 3 in the down direction.
5. Enter the menu and go to “Manual Floor Adjustment”.
6. On floor 0, edit the position when going in the down direction and add to it the value recorded in the table
next to floor0.
7. Repeat step 6 for all subsequent floors and for both stopping directions.
8. Give a car call to floor 0, Check the floor stopping position which should be correct by now.
9. Repeat step 8 for all subsequent floors.
10. Set Re-leveling to “Dist(mm) 10”
9. ACCESS
CONTROL

9. ACCESS CONTROL
Access control (i.e. carcalls lock) feature is now available. This means that if a car call is locked, a corresponding
passcode must be entered to register and service this car call.

9.1 LOCKED FLOORS PASSCODES AND LOCKED FLOORS

In the menu, go to the "Access Control" page in the “Site Configuration” submenu. There are two options to select:
Disabled/Enabled.
When set to Disabled, no carcall is locked. Therefore, carcalls can be registered freely.
When set to Enabled, it is possible to choose the locked floors and their corresponding passcodes.

“AccessLck 1 STP#”, “AccessLck 2 STP#”, “AccessLck 3 STP#” …. “AccessLck 8 STP#” pages are used to select the
floors and their related passcodes. These passcodes consist of 4 digits.
Once "Access control" is Enabled, “AccessLck 1 STP#” page will become accessible. The default option is ALL,
meaning that all floors will be locked and their passcode is set to 0000.
Locked floors can be:
1- "ALL" to lock all floors. No carcalls (CCs) will be served unless the correct passcode is entered.
2- Floors from "0" to "last floor" to lock only up to 8 specified floors.
3- "-" to end selecting locked floors. Note that “-“cannot be chosen for the “AccessLck 1 STP#”.
To modify these settings, push the rightmost push button. ALL will start to blink. To lock a specific floor, use the
leftmost push button to decrement the digit and the middle push button to increment the digit. When the desired
floor to be locked is reached, push the right most push button.
Once the locked floor is selected, the first digit of the passcode on the left starts blinking. Use the leftmost push
button to decrement the digit and the middle push button to increment the digit. When the desired digit is reached,
push the right most push button. The next digit starts blinking. Repeat the above procedure for the remaining 3
digits. Take care to select passcode digits that are only present in the COP (Car Operating Panel). Lowest floor is
considered as Zero, the next floor is 1 …

9.2 ACCESSING THE CARCALLS

Unlocked Carcalls will be registered and served normally. Locked Carcalls will be registered only after their
corresponding passcode is entered.
When a locked carcall is pressed, it will start to blink informing the user that it is locked. The passcode must be
entered within 5 seconds to register it.
For example, if the locked carcall is “5” and its corresponding passcode is “2658”.
To register this car call, you have to press 5, 2, 6, 5 and 8 within 5 seconds. The carcall button will light after the last
digit of the passcode is pressed.
