On the other hand, one should remember that the large sums of money earned by top athletes do
not all come from playing for their team. For instance, portraiture rights, coaching, becoming
In sooth, a great many of these sportsmen are not highly paid at all. In the end, with more
supply than demand, these amatuers are paid nothing at all. Let’s lift the lid off, with so many
professional players worldwide, only a very small proportion earn enormous sums of money.
All in all, these professional athletes deserve their large pay, there is no knowing how much

considered unworthy by other individuals. For instance, footballers might be lauded in some
societies while in others, they may be considered a nobody. How do we define whether it is
At bottom, there are as many worthwhile jobs that pay well as those which do not,
and vice versa. In truth, those in the South East Asia would assume that professionals in the

eyes of these people, jobs like live streamers and sportsmen are considered as unworthwhile.

poverty. In sooth, there are, today, starving painters and writers who are still seeking better
career prospects and advancements. However, some writers and painters are blessed with
riches beyond their wildest dreams. All we can admit is that it is unfortunate that oftentimes,
good artists are not recognised, but at times, these allegations are just exaggerations.

have reached the glass ceiling but are still earning a decent living.
If we take the opposite stand, that people with worthwhile jobs gain more, we see
that the argument is equally baseless. Many would consider medical officers and investment
officers as people with worthwhile jobs. For my money, it is indeed an exaggeration to think
that all these people are minted people. Again, some might succeed; some also lose their
freedom and mental stability, be swept aside and disappear into oblivion. Just like in
'unworthwhile' areas like sports stars and live streamers, there are successful public figures
and there are those who face abject penury and failures. Similarly, we could expand the
'unworthwhile' list to other jobs, such as scrap dealers or drug dealers, it would still be a
chicken-and-egg situation.
In toto, there is not a job that is overpaying or underpaying. Every job contributes
equally to the society. There are successes and failures in every job. The worthiness to the
job may be in the person themself. Perhaps they haven’t given their best in the chosen field
and profession, or they are just not cut for it. Correct the fault, stop pointing finger, and that
