Q1 Design a reinforced concrete deck slab for

the two- lane traffic bridge having a cross-

section (half section shown with symmetry)
as shown above.
Assume:
IRC Class AA loading
Concrete grade 30MPa, Steel grade Fe 500MPa.
Use a wearing coat of 30mm asphalt with an
appropriate udl. Girders are hot rolled I sections
of ISMB 500.
Placing Reinforcement and setting dimensions
Applying Load(Class AA) and setting Boundary conditions
Creating Mesh
Final Deflection profile
Q2 Design a steel-concrete composite girder for the two-
lane traffic bridge, With the cross-sectional properties and
elevation shown in the above two figures and data used as for
the slab design, Assume:
Span of 15m (45ft), simply supported span. IRC Class AA
loading may be considered.
IF a rolled ISMB hot rolled section is used along with a cover
plate attached at the bottom, would this modified composite
beam be more economical.

Q4Design the plate girder for the three-span continuous beam bridge. Geometry is shown
above. Class AA IRC loads need to be considered as live load. Consider a trial deadload
of 1.5kN/m

Q5Consider a simply supported span bridge of 20m. Prestressed concrete girders of
AASHTO type 3 cross section are considered for the design. Concrete grade of 40MPa
and high strength steel strand of ultimate strength 1675MPa are used for prestressing.
A wearing coat of 50mm and cross section of side barrier 0f 0.25sq.m. Design the
interior simply supported PSC girders for this cross-section shown. Use IRC 112 for the
design.
