4.1. Checked first if pulse oximeter is functioning properly
4.2. Choose sensor appropriate for the client’s weight, size 3
and desired location
4.3. Select an appropriate site for the sensor
5.Applying the Pulse oximeter
5.1. Wash hands and clean the site with alcohol 12
5.2. Apply the sensor
5.3. Connect the sensor to the oximeter with a sensor cable.
Turn on the machine
5.4. Set and turn on the alarm
5.5. Inspect and/or move or change the location of the
adhesive toe or finger sensor every 4 hours and a
spring tension sensor every 2 hours to provide
client’s safety
5.6. Immobilize the client’s monitoring site to ensure accuracy
of measurement
