Activity 1 9/22/23 Guided Writing Practice

1.Spend 10 minutes considering the "Choosing a Topic" list (see below), reviewing your

responses to the Writing Process Survey, and responding to the following questions:

 Which items/responses catch your attention?

-Early memory about writing, reading, speaking, or another form of literacy that you recall

vividly and as well someone who taught you to read or write.

 Which items/responses evoke an image in your mind's eye or create a feeling? Note

them?

-A book, video game, recording, or other text that has been significant for you in some way and

an event at school that was related to your literacy and that you found interesting, humorous, or

embarrassing.

 Select one of the items/responses you noted to focus on for this guided writing practice?

- I am looking forward to doing an early memory about writing, reading, speaking, or another

form of literacy that you recall vividly.

2.Write continuously for 5 minutes about your selected item/response

 Disregard concern for punctuation, use of syntax, and topic drift

-I selected this item/response because I still remember about how my mom would teach me how

to write every day before even entering kindergarten, she wanted me to know already so I don’t

struggle that much the same was with math I already knew how to divide/multiply by the time I

was entering kindergarten, for reading my dad when he came back from work he would sit down

and teach me how to read Spanish books because that’s the only language he knew, speaking
both my parents thought me how to speak Spanish and my teachers thought me how to speak

English.
