Are you making the most of your chance to study and have an education?

Before you learn key

concepts of thinking and learning, examine first how you study at present. Reflect on your study habits
and answer the following 10 questions as honestly as you can.

1. When you look at your notes, does it help you remember what has taken place in class? Why?
- Sometimes I remember and sometimes my mind went blank because of pressure.

2. When you take notes in class, do you just copy what is written word-for-word or do you scribble
down extra notes from the discussion? Which do you think is better?
- I do both. It depends on the teacher's explanation and their notes. But the better is if
you listen carefully to your teacher and write the important words or their explanation in
their lesson.

3. Do you use “shortcuts'' in note-taking so that you can write notes down quicker? If yes, give an
example of a common shortcut that you use.
- Yes, I do the shortcuts if I take notes so that it could be easier to write and it's just short
words or sentences. I summarize their examples or I just take Filipino words.

4. Describe the places, at home or elsewhere, where you usually study. Are these places conducive
for studying? Why?
- When the covid 19 is not yet here in the Philippines I am always in a coffee shop. I
always choose a coffee shop because the scent of coffee makes me relax and it makes
me focus on what I am doing. Now, I am always in my room or the living room.

5. How advanced are you in your reading? Do you read your lessons before and after they are
discussed in class? Are you satisfied with this routine?
- to be honest I’m not an advanced reader. I just read books if I didn’t understand the
lesson.
6. Do you highlight and take down notes when you read or study a chapter of a book or article?
Why?
- I highlight the important information in the book and to make it easier to find the
vocabulary or the important information/words.

7. When you study for an examination, do you feel that you are cramming for the test or that you
are merely reviewing lessons which you have previously taken the time and effort to
understand? Why?
- I always do reviewers for all of my subjects to remember the lessons that I didn't
understand and to remember the lessons that they teach.

8. How do you keep track of your assignments, reports, papers, and other tasks? What strategies
do you use in order to make sure that you accomplish them all?
- I do a “to do list” on my computer or in my cellphone to remind me what I am going to
do next after the other assignment with a due date.
9. How often have you missed the deadline for submission of any assignment or task? What do you
think is the reason behind it?
- Sometimes I missed the deadline of submission because I’m sick and sometimes I just
want to take some rest or to breathe because of a lot of assignments or responsibilities
in the house that I am going to do.

10. Which do you accomplish first? – harder tasks or easier tasks? Why?

- I always do the easier task because it’s easy to finish it and I can do the other task. If i do
the harder tasks it take me forever.
