WHEREAS, Israeli government leaders have in recent days espoused openly genocidal rhetoric

against the people of Palestine, including the President of Israel denying the existence of
innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, and taken actions to collectively punish civilians in Gaza -
such as cutting off food, water,aid, and electricity and conducting a widespread bombing
campaign.

WHEREAS, many US elected officials have either encouraged Israel’s escalation of violence
against Palestinians, have pledged to support further increases to US military aid beyond the
nearly $4 billion a year it provides to Israel annually, or have otherwise failed to express
solidarity with the people of Palestine and take actions to end the current violence.

WHEREAS, Israel has kept the Gaza Strip under a state of siege since 2007, and according to
many international human rights organizations, maintains an apartheid occupation regime
against the Palestinian people.

WHEREAS, on October 13th Israel gave 1.1 million Palestinians living in Northern Gaza only 24
hours to evacuate their homes, and has since bombed civilians attempting to evacuate.

WHEREAS, nearly 50 percent of the population of Gaza are children, and at least 800
Palestinian children were killed by Israeli air raids from October 7th to October 16th.

WHEREAS, UAW 2865, UE, and other unions have spoken out in solidarity with the Palestinian
people in recent days.

THEREFORE, be it resolved, that [UNION] calls on elected officials to::


● Oppose all existing and any future military aid to Israel
● Use all available legal means to pressure Israel to an immediate ceasefire including
supporting sanctions, making public statements and media appearances, etc.
● Call for an end to Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of Palestinian land
by Israeli military forces.
● Call on Israel to retract the evacuation order for Northern Gaza and for a restoration of
water, power, and humanitarian aid to Gaza.

THEREFORE, be it further resolved, that [UNION] encourages other unions, any labor councils
and international unions of which we are members, and any of our endorsed elected officials to
join our calls for peace, de-escalation, and an end to US military aid to Israel.
