INSTRUCTIONS

Linux 32/64 bit Installers

1. Development/Client Tools require libstdc++.so.6 to function properly. Please ensure that this lib is
available on the system before installing the above feature.

2. Before running the installer, create a non-administrative OS user, such as "postgres", that will be
used to run the Postgres Plus daemon service(s).

3. Run the installer as root.

4. For a command line (non gui) install, use the following command line:
./postgresplus_x86-32.bin -i console

Windows Installer
1. Extract both MSI files from the downloaded zip file. Double click postgres-plus-8.3.msi to run the
installer. Do not run the installer within Winzip or a compressed folder - it will not work correctly.

2. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

Mac OS/X Installer

The entire package is built as Universal binaries for both i386 and PPC Macs running Tiger or Leopard,
and includes the following components:

PostgreSQL 8.3.3
pgAdmin 1.8.4
PostGIS 1.3.2
Proj 4.5.0
GEOS 3.0.0
psqlODBC 08.03.0300
JDBC 8.3-603
Slony-I 1.2.14

The installer will install the server to /Library/PostgresPlus/8.3, and will set it up to run at system
startup under the 'postgres' user account which will be created if necessary. pgAdmin, psql,
documentation shortcuts and server start/stop/restart shortcuts are included in /Applications/Postgres
Plus 8.3.

Limitations
 pgAdmin is pre-configured only for the installing user.

Uninstallation
Postgres Plus can be uninstalled by running the uninstaller
(/Library/PostgresPlus/8.3/uninstall.sh) from a Terminal Window. The script will give you the
option of removing or leaving both the data directory and the postgres user account, and will
automatically remove all software components.

phpPgAdmin Bundle
In order to use the Windows or Linux phpPgAdmin bundle, please ensure that the base installer
(instructions given above) is already deployed on the target machine. The components packaged in this
bundle are:
 PhpPgAdmin 4.2
 Apache 2.2.4
 PHP 5.2.3

PACKAGED COMPONENTS
The following components are packaged into the base installers.
• PostgreSQL 8.3.3
• PostGIS 1.3.2
• Npgsql
• Slony-I 1.2.14
• pgAdmin 1.8.4
• pgJDBC 603
• psqlODBC 8.3.2
• PLpgSQL Debugger Server by EnterpriseDB
• MySQL to Postgres Migrator by EnterpriseDB

KNOWN ISSUES
 There is a known issue with Fedora Core 8 that can prevent GUI based tools from launching.
The work around is to apply libxcb patch that removes the assertion
 In GridSQL's gridsql.config configuration file, the log file paths need to be adjusted manually.

Notes
On uninstall, xlog and data directory are intentionally not deleted so that there is no loss of data
