Dear Mr. Narender Damodardas Modi,

I wrote to you today as Indian Citizen to express my concern along with drawing your attention
towards one of the SDGs number 16 that is Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions which is in
great need.
Violence and Insecurity have detrimental impact on country’s development also it lead to
deducing global faith as our country is a member of UN. Offences like illegal ammunition,
terrorism, exploitation and torture are prevalent where there is lack of execution and enforcement
of law.
Here I want to suggest three specific targets among the 16 proposed by UN in 2015. The first one
is 16.3 that ensures to promote rule of law within the country and outer world. Secondly, 16.4
that is proposed to reduce illicit financial and weapon flows, reinforce recovery and tackle all
other related crimes. Finally, 16.A is also a significant target to achieve that includes global
cooperation to cope with brutality and terrorism. (NATIONS, n.d.)
Why these above-mentioned targets need more attention?
Initially it is the part of Human Rights to live without fear from all sort of crime, offences and
anti-social activities. We got scared by the following given data by different authorities.
According to the report by Rio De Janeiro, In 2012, about 252 people shot died by terrorist
attacks and revolutionary ferocity. 43,355 citizens were killed by criminals in the country itself.
The number exceeded by 170 than terror victims. India ranks second on the list of nations with
the greatest number of killing committed intentionally. (Janeiro, 2015)

According to the above bar graph it is evident that highest number of incidents took place in
Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Maharashtra whereas least in all other three states. In Punjab,
recently a significant number of high-profile cases occur such as Sidhu Moosewala murder,
Kamal Bajwa, Sandeep Nglambia and many more all these happen due to the shortage of
enforcement agencies and strong institutions. Jammu & Kashmir always suffers due to terrorism.
Most recent terrorist attacks are Uri attack, Pulwama attack where about 59 soldiers were killed.
One of the reports given by the BBC declared it as “the deadliest attack in two decades in
Kashmir on armed forces”. According to the report given by Delhi Police in the national capital
number of heinous crime cases rise by 13 percent in the first six months of 2022 as compared the
corresponding last year. (NEWS, 2019)

I therefore ask the Government to:

 Prevent our nation from violence within the nation and at international level by
making policies and resolutions with other nations.
 There should be effective law enforcement agencies with advanced techniques.
 Mitigate factors responsible for crimes such as unemployment, Peer pressure,
Drugs, Religion, Unfair Justice system.
 Terrorism can be isolated by shielding human rights, stimulating social justice,
increasing democracy and primarily by confirming rule of law.
Conclusion:
I believe that Human Rights are the pillars of every nation’s development and all the rules,
regulations and polices should be formed around to protect those rights. Giving people
expectations that they have future, and a stake will assist to mitigate terrorism.
