Often, a lot of minors unsupervised from their parents, have been using social network as

something of the day by day, where adults can take advantage to get close and create a
relationship with them. This situation in many aspects have been seeing as a current problem,
but the worst part come when an adult take advantage just for generate child pornography or
commit a crime against the minor. Of course it has its own name "Grooming".
Grooming has become a common term to identify the pedophile deceit through social network. It
has been making us realize that social network are currently violating our privacy and ours
children and adolescents.

From my own experience, I just can say that grooming can return into a traumatic situation. It
makes you ask to yourself why have you been involved on internet since you were so young
until now, but also unsupervised when you were more vulnerable. To exemplify: When I was
eleven years old, I used to navigate on internet just to look at some pictures of the things that I
liked the most. one of those things was Vocaloid, a Japanese artificial intelligence of 2D singers
just like Gorillaz. I must have been very happy to belong to a fandom community, but this
happiness disappear when an older man when sent me a friend request. I just accepted
withouth thinking that later he would be harassing me and sending me sexually explicit photos
even though I mentioned being only eleven years old. My immediate reaction was crying and
feel scared.
For many children and adolescents that have passed this situation, the principal question can
be "Why is this happening to me?" But of course, the victim is not the culprit.

In some other cases the situation can be even worst. When they are not being monitored by
their parents, horrible things can happen. Even though some many kids and adolescents have
been going through uncomfortable situations on internet, for some specific cases the situation
had scaffold to hurt their selves in consequence, or even commit suicide. Minors shouldn't use
social network for an important principle: their vulnerability. An innocent child or adolescent will
believe that this older person is looking for create an emotional link with them. The fact is that in
most cases, pedophiles just want faces or bodies pictures to blackmail or, in the worst case,
locations to met minor and commit crimes that attempt against human rights.

This is something that is happening now in some place, it can not be justified in any way. Some
methods that criminals must have been using for catch minors attention can be cyber stalking,
identify thief or hacking minors accounts. Despite the fact that those can be considerated the
common strategies, there's one that can link all of them: blackmail. Minors don't know the way
to defend against blackmail, fear can play a trick on them and have horrible results for their
physical and mental health.

In conclusion, children under fourteen years should not have social networks under any
circumstances without parent's supervision, but on the other hand, the government and
educational institutions must educate about the internet dangers. Although the use of the
Internet is almost unlimited, being part of a community implies that rights must be respected,
both for young people and adults. However, we must not forget that we have some duties, and
that as adults, parents or teachers, we must ensure the protection of the most vulnerable and
the world's future: our minors.
