    information carrying capacity of a fiber .

    Q.2 Derive an expression for intermodal dispersion in terms of n1, n2 and


    length of fiber.

    Q.3 Explain phenomenon of material dispersion and waveguide dispersion in


    fiber. Which dispersion is more significant in SMF. Give reason in
    support.

    Q4 With the help of mathematical formulations, show material dispersion


    dominates over waveguide dispersion in multimode step index fiber at
    given wavelength.
