Significance This plan enhanced the ability of system to manage disasters by incorporating all related activities from preparedness to response. It aimed to reduce loss caused by hazards and emphasized on building resilient structure. Sustainable development goals were set by UN that were aligned with reforms of disaster risk reduction. National disaster management plan was improved further. A major man-made disaster characterized by 149 deaths and 114 injured people. CBDRM is a global competitive model and a powerful tool in disaster management framework that focuses on preparedness as well as reforms. It formulated policies and strategies to deal with disaster management and preparedness
Under this act, NDMA was activated at federal
level to deal with hazards and disasters.
Resulted in incorporation of different phases of
disaster management cycle in the framework.
The series of floods during this time affected
