Topic: Alcoholism in youth

General statement: The excessive consumption of alcohol produces social and health
problems not only in youth but in any person.

Thesis statement: High levels of alcohol consumption have detrimental effects on your
personal health, such as weight gain, heart diseases, and liver complications.

Organizational statement:

The effects of alcohol over our body was taken from “Quarterly” Journal of Studies on Alcohol.

Body:

One of the problems that alcohol consumption produces is gaining weight because it contains
calories and produce many other problems. Many doctors have studied the effects of alcohol
in youth and every time more and more young people are involved in the world of alcohol.
One of the main problems is gaining weight. We must bear in mind that alcoholic beverages
contain high amounts of empty calories, that is, they provide a high caloric level without giving
us any other type of nutrient that can be beneficial for the organism. But this is not only the
reason why they are drinks that get fat. Environment at 70% of the composition of alcohol are
calories. These values are what drinks tend to have on their own, but when mixed with soft
drinks or other supplements this caloric intake increases even more, thus accentuating the
effect that your intake will have on our weight. Although this varies a lot if it is one type of
drink or another. It is proved that drinking a lot of alcohol is related with weight gain because it
contains calories and other elements that contribute to it.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA) Alcohol consumption also brings heart
diseases, high blood pressure and other diseases. Excessive and sustained consumption can
damage the heart because alcohol is toxic to the heart muscle, can weaken the heart and
cause a disease called dilatated cardiomyopathy, the heart dilates and decreases the
"pumping" force, causing patient symptoms of heart failure. The only effective treatment of
this disease is the absolute abstention of any type of alcohol, even in small quantities. On the
other hand, there are certain cardiac arrhythmias related to excessive alcohol consumption,
such as atrial fibrillation. There are many diseases related with alcohol consumption and such
as cardiomyopathy and problems of high blood pressure.

Excessive alcohol consumption also produce liver diseases Alcohol consumption is one of the
main causes of chronic liver disease worldwide. Its consumption is mainly related to the social
field, but the excess can generate other diseases of the liver, as well as affect the brain, heart,
muscles and other tissues. Alcohol damage is determined either by the amount of alcohol
consumed or for the simple consumption, even mild, when there is already a pathology of the
liver. Liver diseases are produces mainly because of the excessive consumption of alcohol,
people should try not to drink a lot and they should take care of their health.

CONCLUSION:

There are many problems that alcohol affects our body one of them is gaining weight. It is
because alcoholic beverages contain high amounts of empty calories. It also produce heart
diseases related with cholesterol high levels and cause a disease called dilatated
cardiomyopathy, the heart dilates and decreases. And finally excessive and sustained
consumption can damage the heart because alcohol is toxic to the heart muscle.
