Can drinking alcohol have a negative impact on liver health?

Alcoholic drinks or
mihol for short are drinks that contain ethanol. Ethanol is a psychoactive substance and its
consumption causes loss of consciousness. In various countries, sales of alcoholic beverages
are limited to a limited number of groups, generally people who have passed a certain age
limit. However, many people are not aware that alcoholic drinks can have a negative impact
on liver health.
Some of the first negative impacts are fatty liver, the liver is the organ responsible for
metabolizing alcohol in the body. When alcohol enters the body, the liver has to work hard
to break it down into simpler compounds, while there is still a lot of fat stored in it so that
the fat clumps in it.
The second is alcoholic hepatitis. This disease will appear in people who consume
alcoholic drinks excessively for years. Because consuming alcohol for years will cause the
liver cells that are responsible for filtering incoming toxins to die due to the substances
produced when consuming alcohol.
The last one is Cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is the most serious alcohol-related liver disease.
In this condition, the liver cells have died permanently, so the liver no longer functions
properly as it should.
It is important to remember that the impact of alcohol on liver health does not only
occur in those who consume alcohol excessively. Even relatively small amounts of alcohol
can contribute to liver damage if consumed regularly over a long period of time.
To protect liver health, it is important for all of us to limit alcohol consumption.
Living a healthy lifestyle by eating nutritious food, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking
is also important in maintaining a healthy liver.
In conclusion, the impact of consuming alcohol on liver health is very serious. Liver
damage caused by excessive alcohol consumption can lead to serious liver diseases such as
cirrhosis and liver cancer. Therefore, it is important for us to raise awareness of the dangers
of alcohol and adopt a healthy lifestyle to maintain our liver health.
