INTRODUCTION

Before you begin with your module, you are invited to have a moment of silence for
1 minute and pray silently this invocation:

I will thank the Lord with all my heart

In the meeting of the just and their assembly

Great are the works of the Lord to be pondered by all who love them.

Majestic and Glorious His work; His justice stands firm forever. He makes us
remember His wonders.

The Lord is compassion and love.

All: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen

MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING OUTCOMES:

~ Doctrine: Jesus perfected the love commandments of the Old Testament. He

gave them to use in a way that enables us to become true children of God. (John

~ Morals: Christ gave a radically new interpretation to neighbour. It is now to be

~ Worship: The commandment of love is also obeyed by expressing the love and
total self-giving in every prayer and liturgical celebration.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Describe people referred to as “kapwa” based on Jesus’ radical interpretation

of a neighbour..
2. Analyze the influences of “kapwa” in intellectual, social, virtual, economic and
political aspects.
3. Infer that:
a. The human being is naturally social, so he/she related with others
develop his/her intellectual, social, virtual, economic and political
potentials.
b. The virtues of justice and charity (love) as exemplified by Jesus are
necessary for stable relationships and in becoming true children of
God.
c. Becoming a true Paulinian/child of God is attained through service of
others and God as stipulated in the love commandments.
4. Inspired by the story of the Good Samaritan, carry out an activity on the youth in
the schools or community in aspects of intellectual, social, economic or political.
5. Prepare and celebrate a liturgy highlighting the gift of love of commandments.

Social, Political and Spiritual Roles of the Christian Family

Opening Prayer: Prayer Before Reading the Bible

Give ma understanding and I will observe Your Law and

keep it wholeheartedly. As I read Your word which is true and pure,
give me light and understanding. Holy Spirit, be present with me.
Make me aware of your presence. Let me hear Your voice speaking to
me. Open my mind and let me know the truth. Dear Holy Spirit, help
me apply the truth in my daily life. Amen.
Where Are We?

Consider the Prayer

1. What is the message of the prayer that we have recited?

2. Why do we need to pray before reading the Sacred Scriptures?

3. What is in the Sacred Scriptures that we ought to understand through the

power of the Spirit?

Taking the Right Path

Sacred Scripture

The Parable of the Good Samaritan ~ Luke 10:29-37

This parable is unique from the Gospel of Luke, who places it during the
journey of Jesus to Galilee to Jerusalem after the mission of the 72 disciples. The time
was drawing near for His arrest, answering the query of a Lawyer, “Who is my
neighbour”? Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan.

DISCUSSION …..

Jesus has given us two greatest commandments:

1. Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your soul, all of your mind and all of
your strength.
2. Love your neighbour as you love yourself.
( Read Matthew -22:34-40 in your bible)
~ Jesus’ parable unveils the reality of what it means to act neighbourly.

~ Jesus stressed directly the relationship between the love of God and the love of

Neighbour.

~ Jesus brought together two well known laws from the Old Testament.

~ Love for our God, as Jesus said, should be qualified as total, involving our

whole heart, soul and mind.

~ Jesus’ words also taught us how to pray.

~ The “Our Father” expresses our living out of the Beatitudes, the

Commandments, and the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

~ The people referred to as your “kapwa”

~ The influences of your kapwa in intellectual, social, intellectual, spiritual and

Political aspects.

INTEGRATING VALUES

Loving Yourself and Others Through Pakikipagkapwa

A good relationship with other people is one thing to which Filipinos give
so much importance. Filipinos are well known for pakikipagkapwa and this
considers as one of their strengths. You may recall that pakikipagkapwa is a
concept that refers to relationships with people in a society. A society consists of
several people that are connected by their needs. All these people can be considered
as neighbors.

CHURCH TEACHING:

“Christ’s typical method of communicating His word about the kingdom was by
telling stories, parables. In them He focused on the common life of His listeners,
and drew them into recognizing God’s presence therein. Jesus taught the people
that God was their father, not in competition with them; that He was not calling
them out of their humanity, but rather making their own creative human efforts
possible by His divine presence.”
