GENERAL : ECONOMY MODE

1. Reminder of operation : Economy mode

The customer is informed of the switch to energy economy mode by the displaying of a message of the type "energy
economy mode active" for 7 seconds maximum on the multifunction screen or by flashing of the battery warning lamp for 7
seconds maximum.
The energy economy mode breaks down into 2 levels :
Standard energy economy mode which protects the service life of the battery
Severe energy economy mode which guarantees sufficient availability of electric power from the battery for the next
start-up of the engine

Activation of the standard energy economy mode results, among things, in :

Switching off of the audio system or telematic unit (according to equipment)
Cutting off of the 12 V accessories sockets
Limitation of the number of movements of the motorised boot (if present)

Activation of the severe energy economy mode results, among other things, in :
Stopping of the passenger compartment temperature pre-conditioning (if present)
Switching off of the parking lamps

2. Management of the engine running status

The function managing the energy economy mode considers that the engine is running in the following cases :
The internal combustion engine is running or in the Stop phase : Stop and Start vehicle
The READY mode is active : Hybrid vehicle
The internal combustion engine is running : Non Stop and Start and non hybrid vehicle

The function managing the energy economy mode considers that the engine is not running in the following cases :
When the internal combustion engine is off and is not in the Stop phase : Stop and Start vehicle
When the READY mode is no longer active : Hybrid vehicle
When the internal combustion engine is off : Non Stop and Start and non hybrid engine vehicle

3. The time counter

The switch to energy economy mode is managed by a time counter integrated in the built-in systems interface.
With each switch to engine running mode, the time counter is reinitialised to a value ranging from 5 to 35 minutes (Varies
according to several vehicle parameters and statuses).
With the switch to engine not running mode, the time counter begins to count down :
While the passenger compartment CAN LS networks remain triggered (ignition on or not)
While the parking lamps are active

The time counter stops counting down :

When the counter reaches 0
When the passenger compartment CAN LS networks switch to dormant mode ignition off

4. Activation/deactivation criteria
4.1. Vehicles without a battery charge status unit
The activation of the energy economy mode depends on the factors below :
Duration of the "engine running" status
Duration of immobilisation of the vehicle

4.1.1. Standard energy economy mode

From the moment the passenger compartment CAN LS networks are triggered, the time before the switch to energy
economy mode is the following :

35 minutes maximum if the engine has been considered running for more than 5 minutes
Between 5 and 35 minutes if the engine has been running for between 1 second and 5 minutes

4.1.2. Severe energy economy mode

From the moment the passenger compartment CAN LS networks are triggered, the time before the switch to energy
economy mode is 5 minutes if the vehicle has remained with the engine not running for more than 30 consecutive days.
4.2. Vehicles with battery charge status unit
The activation of the energy economy mode depends on the factors below :
Duration of the "engine running" status
Battery charge status
Battery temperature
Estimated battery charge at the next start-up of the internal combustion engine
Duration of immobilisation of the vehicle

5 minutes maximum if the temperature of the battery is less than 11 °C

Battery charge status threshold below which the standard energy economy mode is activated.

Battery temperature Charge status for vehicles without Stop and Start Charge status for vehicles with Stop and Start
-1 °C or higher 70% 65%
From -4 to below -1 °C 75% 70%
From -7 to below -4 °C 80% 75%
From -10 to below -7 °C 85% 80%
Below -10 °C 100% 100%

4.2.2. Severe energy economy mode

From the moment the passenger compartment CAN LS networks are triggered, the time before the switch to energy
economy mode is 5 minutes in the following cases :
The vehicle has remained with the engine not running for 30 consecutive days
The estimated battery voltage at the next start-up of the engine is less than 1 V
The loss of battery charge status between the switch to dormant mode and the triggering of the built-in systems
interface is more than 40%
The battery charge status has dropped by more than 15% since the start of a passenger compartment temperature
pre-conditioning phase (if present)
The battery charge status unit is in down-grade mode following a failure or a disconnection of the battery

Battery charge status threshold below which the severe energy economy mode is activated.

Battery temperature Charge status for vehicles without Stop and Start Charge status for vehicles with Stop and Start
-10 °C or higher 45% 40%
From -18 to below -10 °C 55% 50%
Below -18 °C 60% 60%
