The Organisation of Dental Students

The Organisation of Dental Students of Cluj-Napoca, founded in 1996, has two goals at its core:
representing the students within the Faculty of Dentistry of UMF ClujNapoca and performing medical and
scientific projects, which have national and international visibility.

Therefore, the whole view of our volunteers team revolves around a successful completion of the
standards determined by the two earlier mentioned trajectories and in close collaboration with the Iuliu
Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy. We mention the 19 international congresses, organised
for the students of dentistry faculties and young dentists (DENTis), the presentations concerning dental
prophylaxis held in front of over 13.000 children from primary schools, kindergartens and orphanages, the
moral and informational support offered to first year students,

experience exchanges between our students and students from other Universities fromRomania and abroad,
The Open Gates Day” and many others.

The Leading Council, especially the Organisation s President has a major role in representing
students in the superior decisional councils of the University, having representatives in the Faculty s
Council, the University s Senate, the Administration Council and other Social Committees about students
problems. Thus, we have become a partner of the University in every discussion which concerns the student
community.

Project Presentation

General description:

The International Congress of Dental Medicine for Students and Young Dentists DENTis” is a well-
established tradition for the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Cluj- Napoca. Every year, students from all
over the country (Timișoara, București,TârguMureș, Iași, Craiova, Sibiu, Constanța, etc.) and not only,
gather in Cluj-Napoca and present their research papers. Also, there are well-known speakers presenting
issues indentistry and important topics for current and future practitioners.

The International Congress for Students and Young Dentists: "DENTis" represents a good
opportunity to establish beneficial relationships on scientific, social and professional levels, by debating
aspects of maximum importance in the dental medicinefield.

Context:

Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca is one of the best in the
country with around 1500 students who are preparing to become dentists or dental technicians.

 In order for them to refine their training, the Organisation of Dental Students is organising the 21st
edition of the International Congress of Dental Medicine for Students and Young Dentists DENTis”, a
tradition for the cultural and educational medical system of ClujNapoca.

17th edition, 2016

The International Congress for Students and Young Dentists DENTis” 2016 took place on 21st to
23rd of March 2016, on 23 Gheorghe Marinescu street, in Iuliu Hațieganu” Hall.

The event was organised by the Organisation of Dental Students of Cluj-Napoca with the support of
Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Cluj-Napoca and Romanian Dentistry College,
represented by Cluj-Napoca subsidiary. The main sponsor of the Congress was Blend-a-Med and other
partners: Colgate, Red International, Stomestet, GSK/Sensodyne, Iso X, Ad Sanitatem Farm, Marty, Terra
Dent, Dentsply, Nastimed, Marty, Rodna Trans, Pralina, Electro Sistem, Prompt Servit, UBSC, Dent Café,

In the 17th edition were 309 participants, of which 186 were from “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of
Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, 43 from Iași University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 23 from
București University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 28 from Constanţa University of Medicine and Pharmacy,
12 from
Târgu-Mureș University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 4 from Oradea Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, 1
from Chișinău University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Republic of Moldova, 1 from Arad Faculty of
Medicine and Pharmacy, 3 from Galați Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, 2 from Sibiu University of
Medicine and Pharmacy, and 6 from Craiova University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The President of the Congress was Prof. Dr. Radu Septimiu Câmpian. Prof. Dr. Diana Dudea, Prof. Dr.
Alexandra Roman and Associate Professor Dr. Lucia Hurubeanu were part of the scientific committee.

The conferences were delivered by lecturers of Cluj-Napoca University (Prof. Dr. Diana Dudea,
Lecturer Dr. Alexandra Botoș, Lecturer Dr. Smaranda Buduru, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ștefan Adrian Petruțiu, Prof.
Dr. Alexandra Roman, Lecturer Dr. Bogdan Culic, Dr. Cristian Dinu, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ioan Barbur, Lecturer
Dr. Rareș Călin Roman, Associate Prof. Dr. Ondine Lucaciu, Dr. Cătălin Bălog, Lecturer Aranka Ilea, Assist.

Dr. Sebastian Trancă). Special guests were: Prof. Dr. Sylvie Testelin (OMF Surgery Dept., University
Hospital, Amiens, France), Prof. Dr. Graziono Montaruli and Dr. Domenico Ciavarella (University of
Foggia, Italy), Dr. Peter Kiefner M. Sc. (Endodontics specialist) and Dr. Ghassan Bitar.

The number of students science projects was 20, out of which 7 were from “Iuliu Hațieganu”
University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, 9 from Iași University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 1 from
Craiova University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 1 from Sibiu University of Medicine and Pharmacy and 2 from
Târgu Mureș University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

At the same time, several workshops were organised, such as: Sutures in parodontology to insure the
primary closure, Basic surgery skills, CAD/CAM systems – reality next to us, Dental articulators – handson,

Microscopic endodontics: Retreatment techniques, Management based on prophylactic proofs of the patient,
Updates in oral prophylaxis.

Opening Dinner took place at Aroma Restaurant, the party took place at NOA Club, and the Closing
Gala Dinner was held at Napoca Restaurant.

18th edition, 2017

The International Congress for Students and Young Doctors DENTis 2017 took place on 27-29th of
April 2017, on 23 Gheorghe Marinescu street, in Iuliu Hațieganu” Hall.

The Congress, a traditional event in the academic student’s life, was organised by the
Organisation of Dental Students of Cluj-Napoca in partnership with the University of Medicine and

5 from Craiova University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 5 from Timișoara University of Medicine and
Pharmacy, 4 from Chișinău University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Republic of Moldova, 2 from Arad
Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The President of the Congress was Prof. Dr. Radu Septimiu Câmpian. The Scientific Committee was
formed by Lecturer Dr. Sorina Sava, Lecturer Dr. Oana Almășan, Lecturer Dr. Alexandru Irimie, Lecturer
Dr. Doina Rotaru, Lecturer Dr. Bogdan Crișan, Lecturer Dr. Cristian Olteanu.

The conferences were held by lecturers from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of

This year, 11 workshops were organised: Coronal elongation, between aesthetics and functionality.

introduction”, Stamp Technique direct composite restorations on lateral teeth”,

The Opening Dinner was held at Wonderland Restaurant, the Social Party was organised in the VIP
Lounge at Cluj Arena and the Closing Gala Dinner took place at Chios Restaurant.

19th edition, 2018

The 2018th of DENTis, the International Congress for Students and Young Doctors DENTis, took
place between 15th and 18th of March 2018, in Cluj-Napoca in Iuliu Hațieganu” Hall on 23 Gheorghe
Marinescu street.

The event was organised by the Organisation of Dental Students of Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with

This edition of the DENTis Congress hosted 461 participants, out of which 229 students were from
“Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, 56 from București University of
Medicine and Pharmacy, 71 from Iași University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 39 from Oradea Faculty of
Medicine and Pharmacy, 19 from Constanța University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 16 from Arad Faculty of
Medicine and Pharmacy, 14 from Timișoara University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 10 from Târgu-Mureș
University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 5 from Galați Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and 2 students from
Sibiu University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Prof. Dr. Radu Septimiu Câmpian was the president of the DENTis Congress. The Scientific
Committee was formed by Senior Lecturer Dr. Anca Mesaroș, Senior Lecturer Dr. Meda Simu, Senior
Lecturer Dr. Dan Buhățel, Senior Lecturer Dr. Bogdan Crișan and Assistant Professor Dr. Cosmin Cioban.

The Congress hosted a total of 17 conferences and 11 workshops. The conferences were held by
lecturers of Cluj-Napoca University of Medicine and Pharmacy: Senior Lecturer Dr. Raluca Cosgarea,
Assistant Professor Dr. Darius Tomina and Associate Professor Dr. Horațiu Rotaru. We were also pleased to
welcome a few internationally and nationally renowned lecturers: Dr. Henriette Lerner (Germany), Dr. Peri
Colino Gallardo (Spain), Dr. Raj Ahlowalia (U.K.), Dr. Sebastian Lupu (Iași), Dr. Mariana Păcurar
(TârguMureș), Dr. Alex Rugină (Timișoara), Dr. Bogdan Oprea (Sibiu).

Out of the many workshops held at DENTis Congress we mention: AnyRidge Implant, Impression
Materials in Dentistry, Diode Laser Epic X, Knots and Sutures, ProTaper rotary files for mechanical
preparation of root canals, Guided tissue regeneration, CBCT, Efficient scientific research in dentistry - from

 The Opening Dinner took place at Aroma Restaurant, the social Party of the second night at the VIP
Room of Cluj Arena and the Closing Dinner and Gala held place at Grand Hotel Italia Restaurant.

Furthermore, within the DENTis Congress, students that are passionate about research had the
opportunity to present the results of their scientific research during the Students Scientific Presentations
which included 2 sections: Preclinical and Clinical. The best of the presentations were awarded during the
Closing Gala.

20th Edition, 2019

The 20th Edition of DENTis, the International Congress for Students and Young Doctors DENTis,
took place between 21st and 24th of March 2019, in Cluj-Napoca in Iuliu Hațieganu” Hall on 23 Gheorghe
Marinescu Street.

Pharmacy, 37 from Târgu-Mureș University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 13 from Galați Faculty of Medicine
and Pharmacy, 6 students from Sibiu University of Medicine and Pharmacy
and one student from Chișinău University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

 21st Edition, 2020

Due to unfavorable epidemiological conditions and the fact that time was very limited, the
International Congress of Dentistry for Students and Young Doctors DENTis 2020 did not take place. It was
scheduled for March 26th to 28th 2020, in Cluj-Napoca, inside the "Iuliu Hațieganu" Hall on Gheorghe
Marinescu Street no. 23.

21st Edition, 2021

Due to the unfavorable epidemiological conditions, the International Congress of Dentistry for
Students and Young Doctors DENTis 2021 took place between March 25th to 28th 2021, online this time.
The event was organized by the Organization of Dental Students from Cluj-Napoca, in partnership
with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Iuliu Hațieganu" Cluj-Napoca, with sponsors: ALU PVC &
Bond Systems, HalmaDent, Femina Medical, GSport, BKS Ingenieure, Dentsply Sirona, Ivoclar Vivadent,
Terra Dent, Dr. Leahu, Septodont, NTT Data, Philips Sonicare, Society of Estetic Dentistry in Romania,
Connect Dentistry, Curaprox, Durr Dental, Elmex, Nastimed Dent Expert, Farmec, Dentamerica Distribuiton.
At this edition of the congress were 1000 participants, both from the University of Medicine and
Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, as well as from other Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy in the country, such
as: University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iași, Faculty of
Medicine and Pharmacy Oradea, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Constanța, Faculty of Medicine and
Pharmacy Arad, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara, University of Medicine and Pharmacy
Târgu Mureș, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Galați, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy Sibiu. Along
with them, there were many foreign participants from countries, such as Germany, Spain, Poland, Serbia.
The President of the Congress was Conf. Prof. Dr. Anca Mesaroș, and the Scientific Committee was
composed of: Senior Lecturer Dr. Radu Chișnoiu, Assistant. Univ. Dr. Berar Antonela.

The conferences were held both by lecturers from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca,
and by lecturers from other Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy in the country, such as: Dr. Dragoș
Țermure, Dr. Smaranda Buduru, Dr. Simion Bran, Dr. Radu Nichimis, Dr. Marius Bud, Dr. Johnny Barbur,
Dr. Darius Tomina, Dr. Andrei Constantinovici.
We were also pleased to welcome a few internationally and nationally renowned lecturers: Dr. Rareș
Buduru, Dr. Andreea Jianu, CDT Ciprian Panaite, Dr. Serdar Siralar, CDT Petri, Dr. Vlad Băncescu, Dr.

As in previous years, during the DENTis Congress, research-passionate students had the opportunity
to present the results of their research in the scientific communication session that includes two sections:
preclinical and clinical.
The 2021 edition, also called the Pandemic Edition, brought a lot of prizes for the participants, these
being in the form of giveaways carried out during the presentations.

22nd Edition, 2022

The XXII edition of the International Congress of Dental Medicine for

Students and Young Doctors DENTis 2022 took place from March 31 to April 2,
2022, this time, on-site.

The event was organized by the Organization of Dental Students from

Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with the "Iuliu Hațieganu" University of Medicine
and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, with sponsors: BioHorizon, Stomestet, MB
DENTAL INSTITUTE, Bredent, Megagen, DigiRay, GSK, BKS Ingenieure,
Ivoclar Vivadent, Terra Dent, Dr. Leahu, Septodont, NTT Data, Philips Sonicare,
COLTENE, Curaprox, Durr Dental, Farmec, Dentamerica Distribuiton.

At this edition of the congress there were 400 participants, both from the
University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, and from other Universities
of Medicine and Pharmacy in the country, such as: Bucharest, Iași, Oradea,
Constanța, Arad, Timișoara, Târgu Mureș, Galați, Sibiu. Along with them, there
were numerous foreign participants, all of whom could benefit from the
conferences held in the Cluj Napoca University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hall,
on Gheorghe Marinescu Street.

The President of the Congress was Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cristian Dinu and members of the Scientific

 The conferences were held in English by national lecturers, such as: Dr. Aranka Iliea, Dr. Horațiu

As for the workshops, they were held during the 3 days of the congress, with topics covering all
branches of dentistry. The invited speakers were both UMF Cluj teaching staff, as well as from the country and

 As previous years, within the DENTis Congress, students passionate about research had the opportunity
to present the results of their research in the scientific communications session which includes two sections:
preclinical and clinical. The winners of these sessions were: 1st place - Bianca Moldovan and Ioana Cureș
(UMF Cluj Napoca, year IV and V), 2nd place - Patricia Marcu (UMF Cluj Napoca year VI), and 3rd place
was shared between 2 students, namely Ioan Rusz (UMF Cluj Napoca 6th year) and Iustina Timofte (UMF Iași
4th year).

The 2022 edition brought a lot of prizes for the participants, these being in the form of giveaways held
before the Congress, on the Instagram page, as well as physical prizes won in the raffles organized during the 3
days of workshops and conferences.

 23rd Edition, 2023

The International Congress of Dental Medicine for Students and Young Doctors DENTis 2023 took place
between 6-8 April 2023, in Cluj-Napoca, in the premises of the "Iuliu Hațieganu" Auditorium on Gheorghe
Marinescu Street no. 2. 3.

The event was organized by the Organization of Dental Students from Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with the
University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Iuliu Hațieganu" Cluj-Napoca, with sponsors: Terapia, Aquapick,

At this edition of the congress, there were approximately 500 participants, both from the University of
Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, and from other Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy in the country,
such as: Bucharest, Iasi, Oradea, Constanța, Arad, Timișoara , Târgu Mureș, Galați, Sibiu. Along with them,
there were numerous foreign participants, all of whom were able to benefit from the conferences held in the
Cluj Napoca University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hall, on Gheorghe Marinescu Street.

The President of the Congress was the Dean of the Conf. Univ. Dr. Cristian Dinu, and the Scientific Committee
was made up of: Prof. Dr. Chișnoiu Radu Marcel - the president of the scientific committee, Head of Works
Dr. Bordea Roxana, Head of Works Dr. Bacali Cecilia, Head of Works Dr. Crisan Liana.

The conferences were held in English by national lecturers, such as: Dr. Adrian Petrțiu, Dr. Anca Kovacs, Dr.
Ioan Barbur, Dr. Bogdan Culic, Dr. Camelia Roman, Dr. Codruța Ciurescu, Dr. Cătălin Dimir, Dr. Dragoș
Smărandescu, Dr. Emil Crăsnean, Dr. Daniel Raț, TD Dani Haiduc, Dr. Marius Bud, Dr. Simion Bran, Dr.
Smaranda Buduru, Dr. Ștefan Jitaru. As international speakers, they honored us with the presence of Dr.
Agnieszka Pacyk, Dr. Antonio Ginjeira and Dr. Matthieu Gabriele.

As for the workshops, they were held during the 3 days of the congress, covering topics from all fields of
dentistry. The lecturers were both UMF Cluj teaching staff, as well as from the country and abroad. Among
them, we mention: Dr. Adrian Frangopol, Dr. Agnieszka Pacyk, Dr. Bogdan Culic, Dr. Eduard Duda, Dr.

In addition, during the DENTis Congress, research-minded students had the opportunity to present their
research results in the scientific communications session that includes two sections: preclinical and clinical.
The best presentations were awarded at the closing Gala as follows: 1st Place - Duca Andrada, from the "Iuliu
Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, 2nd Place - Aldea Bianca, from the "Iuliu
Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hațieganu" Cluj Napoca, III Place - Vîlculescu Claudia-
Oana, Ciobîcă Irina, from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Grigore T. Popa" Iași, IV Place - Grigore
Andreea-Mădălina, Lefter Diana, from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy " Grigore T. Popa Iasi".

The opening dinner was held at Aroma Events and the closing Gala of the congress was held at Wonderland
Resort, where the participants had the pleasure of witnessing a moment of live music performed by Mira.

 Objectives and beneficiaries

The prime objectives of DENTis 2024 are:

• Presenting the latest news in the Dentistry domain;
• Interdisciplinary collaboration, regarding both general medicine and dentaltechnique;
• Creating interest and consolidating relationships with many university centresin Romania and abroad.

The beneficiaries of this congress are:

• Directly: all participants, at the sessions of scientific communications during theCongress, students and
medical practitioners alike;
