Cardinal directions are: North, South, West and East.

Intermediate directions are Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast. We can find them between the
cardinal directions.

Map scales indicate the relationship between the distances measured on a map to the real distances on
ground.

Q4. Compare between lines of longitude and lines of latitude.


Lines of longitude are vertical lines on the earth’s surface that run north and south.
Lines of latitude are horizontal lines on the earth’s surface that run west and east.
The latitude line at zero degrees is called the Equator.
The longitude line at zero degrees is called the Prime meridian.
Lines of latitude never meet. They are parallel.
Lines of longitude meet at the earth’s poles

A geographic grid is formed by lines latitude and lines of longitude.
