I am writing this reference at the request of Hasan Algharkan who is

applying for United World Colleges this summer.

I have known Hasan for three years in my capacity as a teacher at

Baghdad Ishik Boys College. Hasan took English and Biology from
me and earned superior grades in those classes. Based on Hasan's
grades, attendance and class participation, I'd rate Hasan's academic
performance in my class as superior.

Hasan has a number of strengths to offer as a student. Hasan is always

interested in supporting others and also, he has a leadership spirit. For
example, this year when we worked on our class community service
project, Hasan was helpful to me in collecting and organizing the food for
the food pantry here in Baghdad.
