Your group of 5 will be given a case study in-class – you will be allotted time to deduce the case

study.
1. Identify risk factors & protective factors in the cases provided.
2. From a trauma-informed lens; evaluate possible realities that may have led the situation
to be where it is today/also identify any signs of possible trauma.
3. When looking at the case from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework, which aspect
would you prioritize; explain HOW you would prioritize it & why one aspect is more
pertinent than the other.
4. Discuss any relevant services or treatments that could be offered in the moment or down
the line – such as various short or long term treatment options. What would the focus of
these treatments be?
5. Any relevant diagnosis you can deduce from the scenario?
6. Talk about how intersectionality plays a role in the case study (how would their flower of
power look?) - identify any barriers/advantages that come with it.
7. Talk about how substance use ties into the scenario - why might the person be using
drugs?
8. What personal biases does your group have regarding this case/what about this case
would make it hard for you to work with this person on a moral level?
9. What previous life/work experience do you have that helped guide your reasoning with
regards to the given case study?
Your group is to do a presentation to the rest of the class after the allotted brainstorming-time is
complete.
