My Parish is my Room!

God wants me all for Himself … as He wants you too.

I used to be sad when certain thoughts came to my mind.

Coming to Malta, I left behind so many good friends. I left behind a powerful
apostolate of spiritual sons and daughters, in Melbourne and in Peru. I was
helping so many lay apostolates and priests, people of different
nationalities. Circumstances made me leave the countries I loved, Australia and
Peru, against my will. I thought Malta was a stepping stone to go to Peru and
finish my life at the orphanage for multiple disabled and abandoned
children. Superiors had a different agenda to follow, so I did not get the
permission to return to Peru. Very sad indeed.

Then this thought came to my mind. A thought inspired by Saint Jeanne Jugan,
Fr. Edward McGrath who was exiled from Australia, Eileen O’Connor who passed
her life in a wheelchair and in bed, Father Joseph Cauchi (1900-1955) from Gozo
who was falsely accused and suspended from his priestly ministry, still he
continued to lead a saintly life, and particularly by Saint Theresa of the Child
Jesus who wanted to be a missionary but lived in her cell. All these people were
forced by obedience to give up their work and inspirations to God. They did not
lose God. Their lives are a great consolation for me. I can easily identify with
them and the similar experiences they went through and learn from them. They
lived like hermits in their community, and so do I.

As from a ‘desert’ I uplifted myself in the ‘garden’ of God in imitation of them. In

my room I have a small table where I put Jesus in the Eucharist. He dwells with
me even at night time. He is my power-station. A powerful ministry indeed. I
live misunderstood but understood by God.

In life we continually face opposition and evil. We fight it – but not alone but
with God. We never have to lose Him. He is always there for us and with us. We
will win. Like Jesus Christ on the Cross he was life. He won.

It is important that you Helpers with me give yourself to God. After all, what we
are doing is God’s work. We are helping Him and His Church. Involved in saving
lives, as living the Gospel in holiness and peace. A great blessing indeed.
From our rooms it is a total giving to God. It is a special loving call from Christ
Himself – to be with Him day after day. He keeps His works going in spite of us
– what we can't do He will do with great success.

My health is deteriorating and although I take tablets, the high blood pressure
persists - so be it. I will not lose God, only accept His will.

The most beautiful pastoral work of the Archdiocese of Melbourne is saving

babies’ lives. The most beautiful pastoral work of the Archdiocese of Arequipa
in Peru is the orphanage for disabled children. You Helpers are particularly
involved in both of them. Glorious will be your death. You will be alive living in
the people you save from death.

Orphanage News

With the money we send, the senior boys helped Mauricio to finish the work
needed on the new block. The next phase will be the furnishings. Once ready
the senior boys will move in. There is still a lot of work to be done. Photos will
be sent once the work is finished.

They are struggling to maintain this house of God. The miracle is that although
I am not in Australia the friends continue to donate. Another miracle is, that
these disabled children who cannot speak in return are helping in the kitchen,
the garden, the field, raising and looking after the animals, cleaning …. Giving a
helping hand where needed. Remember that these children have been saved
from certain death and are maintained by you benefactors.

Praise the Lord of Life! Of Love! I am praying every day for you and so are the
children in their own way.

One day we all will sing with the children to Mary in Heaven. Queen of the Roses
we are for you. The Angles will join us in singing. That is how it is going to be.
