** FET and SP subject methodologies are aligned, and students register for BOTH together with the Teaching Experience for these methodologies.
** An additional SP methodology may be taken if the timetable allows for this, and if the requirements are met (Full-time students only).
** All registrations are subject to departmental approval.
** Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree, such as BA, BA (Fine Arts), BA (Dramatic Art), BSc, or BCom. The degree must contain a number of university
courses which have been approved as suitable for teaching a school subject.
** Preference will be given to students with 60% and above for the relevant subjects
** If one more course to complete in order to obtain a major/sub-major in their degree or to fulfil the requirements for a multidisciplinary subject, co-registration may be
possible subject to Senate permission. Proof of such registration must be shown before permission is granted to register for the PGCE.
Please ensure that you meet the pre-requisite requirements related to registering for a particular subject. You register for the FET subject methodology and its
aligned SP component. The entry requirements here are in line with the University Rulebook entries and the MRTEQ (Minimum Requirements for Teacher
Education Qualifications) rules for the PGCE program issued by the Department of Higher Education and Training. The program is a one-year (full-time) or two-
year (part-time) program and incorrect registrations will be problematic to deal with at a later stage. In the event of incorrect registration, the Rulebook and
MRTEQ regulations will be applied.
