5 Compression verifications
Compression verifications are done for each beam of the connection (left and right). In the following are
presented only those verifications which are giving the smallest resistance (or work ratio).
Beam cross section design bending moment resistance, reduced if necessary to allow for shear force:
The column profile is class 1, so the moment resistance of the section is calculated using the plastic
modulus:

For each side of the connection, bolts connecting the member with the end plate are verified with torsor
(group of efforts) from right side of the connection.
Only verifications giving the maximum work ratio are displayed.
- the distance from the most tensioned anchor/bolt (on row 1) to the center of rotation;
- the sum of square distances from the current tensioned anchor/bolt row to center of rotation;
The center of rotation will be considered in the middle thickness of the compressed flange/haunch flange.

For bolts that are not centered on members:

Lb - is the bolt elongation length, taken as equal to the grip length (total thickness of material and
washers), plus half the sum of the height of the bolt head and the height of the nut.
The minimum resistance for rows and groups is calculated as the minimum resistance between:
- End Plate Bending Resistance; EN 1993-1-8, 6.2.6.5
- Beam Web Tension Resistance; EN 1993-1-8, 6.2.6.8
Effective resistance of a row in a group is calculated as the difference between the group minimum
resistance and the rest of the rows minimum resistance:
The effective resistance of the row is equal to the effective resistance of a row in a group or the row
minimum resistance, whichever is the smallest.
If the Effective Resistance of one of the previous bolt-rows is greater than 1.9 times the tension resistance
of the bolt, the effective design tension resistance will be recalculated:
