TABLE OF CONTENTS
This document describes how to operate the KONE Maintenance Interface (KMI) EN version.
Any elevator related actions described in this document, for example, setup, testing and
configuration, are described from KMI usage point of view only. For any actual work on
elevators, follow the elevator specific procedures to guarantee the safety of users and safety
at work.
1.2 Applicability
WARNING: For safety, always use the version of this document that applies to the KCE
board hardware revision in the elevator.
Check that the KCEMSC board hardware revision number in the bar code matches Table
2: Documented KCE board revisions in AS-10.65.102.

Figure 1. KCEMSC board hardware revision number in the board bar code. In the example above, the
hardware is G01.
The following tables list which KCE board revisions this document applies to.
The KCE board revisions (software, hardware) of the elevator are also listed in delivery
documentation.
If this document is not applicable to the board hardware revisions in the elevator, contact your
supervisor.
1.3 Audience
This document is intended to be used by people who are familiar with elevator maintenance
or installation and have received proper training on methods and safety as specified by
KONE.
1.4 Abbreviations
This chapter describes topics that you must follow with this product and in your daily work.
2.1 Safety
Refer to AS-01.03.101 for general safety precaution and personal safety issues.
NOTE: This document applies to several elevator configurations using KCE. Read all
safety instructions of the elevator you are working with to ensure safety. If you have any
doubts of the correct working method, ask your supervisor.
NOTE: Use KMI very carefully when moving or configuring the elevator.
Hazardous waste material must be taken care of according to the local regulations and KONE
Environment Strategy.
The focus of your work must always be customer satisfaction. To reach and exceed the
customers’ expectations, be polite, constructive and co-operative, and communicate clearly.
Remember that for customers, you represent KONE, so ensure that you handle or at least
communicate all customer requests and feedback to the correct persons.
For more information on how to deliver best-in-class customer experiences through behavior
and communication, see the KONE Ambassador program in KONE intranet (search for
Ambassador) or contact your supervisor.
KONE Maintenance Interface (KMI) is an elevator technician user interface for maintenance,
testing and rescuing trapped passengers.
KMI is located in:
– Maintenance Access Panel (MAP) in machine-room-less elevators
– Control panel in elevators with machine room

Use the TESTS switch to disable landing calls and door opening and to enable tests:
– OFF = normal operation
– TEST 261 = landing calls disabled, elevator disconnected from group
– TEST 263 =
•Door opening disabled
•All tests enabled
•Landing calls disabled
1086005.wmf
For more information on tests, see chapter 6 Performing setup, diagnostics and tests.
NOTE: First, press RUN (keep pressed) and then press UP / DOWN (keep pressed).
Release both buttons before moving the elevator again.
TIP: If you plan to drive the car with the car roof inspection drive unit, you can leave the
KMI RDF switch to RDF. The car roof inspection drive overrides the KMI RDF switch.
1086007.wmf
Make top and bottom floor car calls with the CALLS buttons:
– To call the car to the topmost floor, switch RDF to NORM and press TOP CALL.
– To call the car to the bottom floor, switch RDF to NORM and press BOTTOM CALL.
KMI enables you to perform elevator diagnostics such as setup drive and testing OSG.
CAUTION: This document does not describe how to operate, maintain or install the
elevator. Always use this document in conjunction with elevator specific installation or
maintenance instructions. For more information on the actual elevator specific installation
and maintenance methods, see the respective AM, AS and ASG documents.
1086009.wmf
By default, the setup drive starts from the bottom final limit. If you want to start the setup
drive from the top final limit, press SETUP + TOP CALL.
5. Start the automatic setup drive by switching RDF switch to NORM.
The control system performs the setup drive automatically in phases.
If you want to cancel the setup drive before the setup drive has started, press SETUP. The
SETUP LED goes off.
If you want to stop the setup drive during the setup drive, switch TEST to OFF.

NOTE: The test is valid for the next start only and the start must happen within one minute
after activating the test.
The BOOST button allows one start with full torque. During the start, the control system
ignores the car load weighing device.
1086011.wmf

NOTE: The bypass is valid for the next start only and the start must happen within 10
seconds after activating the bypass. Otherwise the bypass is disabled (the bypass LEDs
go off).
The UNINTENDED MOVEMENT TEST switch can be used to test that the unintended car
movement with doors open monitoring operates and triggers the stopping devices.
1086044.wmf
NOTE: Check if the stopping devices, for example, guide rail or traction sheave brake,
require resetting before the elevator recovers to normal operation. For more information,
see the elevator specific instructions.
KMI allows bypassing car or landing door electric contacts for maintenance purposes. You
cannot bypass both doors at the same time.
NOTE: Do not install any jumpers at the actual doors to bypass car or landing door
contacts. Instead, only use KMI for bypassing.
1086040.wmf
1086316.wmf
The FAULTS area LEDs indicate when the system has detected faults that require a manual
reset.
1086020.wmf
For more information on the safety chain contacts, see Table 5: Electric
safety devices and bypass jumper operation.
1082486.wmf 1082450.wmf
In the picture above, the total number of active faults is 8 and the fault code of the latest
fault number 8 is 2002.
1082301.wmf
1082304.wmf 1092793.wmf
In the picture above, menu E_1 (fault log) contains log faults and the fault code of fault
number 138 is 2002.
After fixing the fault, use the RESET button to switch off the fault LEDs and to manually
acknowledge that you have fixed the fault. After pressing RESET, KCE resets only the
supervision, not the fault itself. Resetting restarts KCEMSC.
1086020.wmf
NOTE: You can reset all faults except safety chain open. Reset safety chain open by
closing the safety chain.
NOTE: Doors are part of the safety chain. When a door is open,
Safety chain open LED is on.
1082303.wmf
WARNING: Risk of wrong parameters. Ensure that you use correct parameter values.
NOTE: In addition to single value parameters, the elevator has vector parameters. Vector
parameters have multiple values, for example, one for each side or floor.
1083499.wmf
At the elevator’s initial test procedures or for troubleshooting, You can bypass the safety
chain of the elevator either partially or completely.
NOTE: Do not install any jumpers anywhere else on the elevator. Only use KMI for
bypassing.
KMI provides the following connection points for bypassing the safety chain:
– Bypass jumpers SB-1, SB-2, SB3 and SB-4
– SB-COMM
1086023.wmf
To bypass, connect a temporary test clip wire jumper between the selected SB-1/2/3/4
terminal(s) and SB COMM.
NOTE: If you connect all four bypass jumpers, pendant mode activates and you can drive
the elevator only with the pendant unit connected to PENDANT SERVICE REMOTE
connector on KMI.
If replaced, KCE circuit boards (KCEMSC, KCECCG, KCEDZS and KCECPU) having
elevator software version 11.0 or newer must be paired. If the boards have not been paired,
only inspection or RDF drive is possible.
NOTE: Compare the board serial numbers to the numbers given in EC Declaration of
Conformity for Safety Components 50312371Dxx (xx>=04). 50312371Dxx is a part of
elevator delivery documentation.
1. Select KMI menu 5-5 and check the unpaired node count.
2. If the result is greater than zero, press Enter () twice to confirm the pairing of the boards.
The pairing is finished when KMI displays "DONE". The pairing can take up to 20
seconds.
NOTE: After pairing, the boards can only be used with this elevator.
