Topic 2: The advantage and disadvantages of living in the big cities.

In our modern society, some people like living in the countryside to avoid the noise and
pollution of the city, while the others like to live in big cities. In my opinion, I prefer the life in
big cities although living in the city has a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, city life is
very interesting and exciting, we are provided with better working conditions to find better jobs
or to develop our career thanks to a lot of working places in big cities such as international
companies, big factories or industrial zones. Secondly, life in big city gives us better
communication as well as better transportation than in the countryside. Electricity, public
transport, telecommunication services and facilities make our life more comfortable and
enjoyable. Moreover, life in big cities is served with many services having better quality. We
have a good chance to get a better education in big universities or language centers. When you
are ill, you can get the treatment in big hospitals with good medical care. If you want to relax
you can choose many different forms of entertainment to enjoy such as theatres, clubs, or
restaurants ...etc. You can go shopping very quickly in the big shopping centers and buy
whatever you want. However, living in the city also has many disadvantages. The environment
is one of the things that people in the cities have to face. Smoke from vehicles as well as
chemical wastes from factories endangers our health. Heavy traffic and rush life in city can be
harmful factors causing stress, accidents and some serious diseases. In addition, city life lacks
safety. There are many social evils such as crimes, addiction or robberies happening in the
city .These things make people living in the city frightened, they have to be very careful when
they leave their home. In conclusion, living in city has both advantages and disadvantages.
However, I also like living in big cities to have a chance to improve my career and my life.

Topic 4: The advantages an disadvantages of the social networking

Nowadays, social networking has becoming more and more popular, most of us like using it
because of its benefits. Firstly, social networking gives you a chance to connect with people
around the world. Through some free apps like, Facebook or Zalo, we can communicate with
our friends or relatives from anywhere by chatting, sending messages and sharing photos with
them at any point of time. Moreover, social networking helps get much valuable information
and knowledge. There are a lot of pages providing us with updated information in many fields
like sports, education, politics, and so on. We also gain more knowledge by sharing our
experience, exchanging opinions with other friends about the subjects or the exams, which is
very good for our study. In addition, social networking is also a source of entertainment for us
to relax. We can play games, watch films, listen to music, make video calls to chat with our
friends for entertainment. There is a long list of its usefulness. However, social networking also
has many disadvantages too. It can cause addiction. Some people may spend too much time
surfing the net, playing on line games, which easily makes them forget their study and other
activities. Besides, social networking has bad effects on our health. We will feel tired, have a
headache or become near-sighted if we use it too long. To sum up, social networking has both
advantages and disadvantages. However, I believe that it gives us more advantages than
disadvantages, therefore we should use it to serve our lives.

Topic 5: What should you do to maintain cultural identity in the age of

globalization?
In the age of globalization, it is important to maintain cultural identity and there are many
ways to preserve it. Firstly, we should preserve native language by using it to communicate with
people in our family and in our community. Language allows us to link people and acquire and
value native culture so it helps develop intellectual abilities and shape cultural identity.
Secondly, we should wear traditional clothes such as “ao dai” to reflect our national typical
costumes. Vietnamese women wear "ao dai" not only on special occasion but also everyday
also represents national identities and reflects our ways of living. Moreover, celebrating
national holidays around the year like Hung's King festival, or Tet holiday is also a good way to
express our cultural identity. Through the festivals, we can express who we are and what
country or culture we belong to. For instance, Vietnamese people usually go to pagodas on first
days of New Year to pray for good health and happiness. This is a good custom which we must
preserve and respect. Last but not least, cooking and eating traditional food day after day also
contributes to preserve our cultural identity. In fact, the choice of food practices can be
considered a suitable way to express our cultural identity and preserved our traditions and
customs. In conclusion, it is necessary for us to preserve our cultural identify in the age of
globalization. This is a meaningful way to keep our country develop in modern times.
