Its « revision of the 1981 edition of BS 4800, which is withdrawn. ‘The colours In the present adition have boan selected from BS 5252, which wat designed as the maans of implement Ing the alm of colour co-ordination In the bullding industry, namely: {a} to bring colours of building materiale and finishes Into a systematic relationship; (0) to combine economy in the totel number of colours ued, with sufficient flexibility for meeting design and tachnicel raqulrements The original edition, which replaced BS 2660 ‘Colours for bullding and decorative paints’, was published in 1872 snd Induded 88 colours selected from the precureor of BS 6262, namely DD 17 : 1972 'Besie range for the e2-ordination of colour for building purpose’. The 1081 ‘dition ravised and extended the range to 100 colours (ineiuding black and whita)salacted from BS 6262, ‘This present edition retains the same selection of colours ‘nd embodies the following malor changes.
