Can someone list some other ways by which a
Batsman can be declared out and they haven't
happened Yet

Username_Hadrian 3h 
no one has declared an innings in white ball
cricket (international) In that everyone that
hasn't come to bat is retired hurt. (That I know
of)

There is no other type remaining now. Hitting
the ball twice and timed out were the only two
ones that hadn’t happened before this year.
The former happened in a Malta vs Romania
T20 match this year, but hasn’t happened
anywhere else on international stage.

1877 is where it all started. History of Cricket
is huge. The fact I enjoy the most is that only 4
players have taken 10 wicket hauls in a single
Test innings in its entire history so far.

The only occurrence of this dismissal in

international cricket was when Malta's
Fanyan Mughal got out against Romania
in the 2023 Men's Continental Cup on
20 August 2023.

Malta vs. Romania is awesome, I didn't even
know they played cricket in those countries.
Love to see other places having a crack.

Isn't it borderline obstructing the field too?

Yeahhh exactly its obstruction of field
actually

resetet 2h 
That side angle makes it look like the ball is
rolling back towards the stumps, in which
case he's allowed to, no?

SalmonNgiri :Punjab: Punjab 2h 

I swear Kohli does this all the time, where
the ball seems dead and he just swats it
to the bowler with his bat.

JustTune7544 2h 
I think the issue here is that there was
also a runout opportunity so the ball
was definitely not dead.

Im-no-saint :Royal_Chall… 2h 

Hitting the ball twice is same as obstruction of
field, correct?

Username_Hadrian 3h 
not really, Marnus did it v NZ but no one
appealed.

Obstruction would be intentionally running in

path of bowler so that he can't take the ball,
that sorta thing.

idumbam :New_Zealand: New Zea… 2h 

I think the difference is if you try and hit the
ball for a boundary vs stopping a run out
opportunity.

HalfNew3522 2h 
But the person in this malta match was
given out when he stopped a potential run
out opprtunity by hitting the ball with the
bat for second time

SalmonNgiri :Punjab: Punjab 2h 

Which would make obstructing the field
more accurate. Hitting it twice would
imply some kind of Lagaan style tee up
and smash

Sumeru88 :India: India 2h 

I heard Naseer Hussain say this once that
he got out hitting the ball twice and it was
given out as “obstruction of field”. I am not
sure about the exact match. It may have
been against India.

What's the difference between retired hurt and
retired out?

Ok_Being372 :India: India 3h 

Retired hurt is when the player gets injured
while batting and cannot continue for the time
being. He can come back during the innings if
he recovers soon enough.

Retired out is when the player voluntarily

leaves to bring on the next batsman. If a player
retires out, he cannot come back later in the
innings.

Yes he did. In last year's IPL I think.

If the batsman is ill or injured they are

considered retired - not out and are
permitted to return to batting if they
recover. In all other cases the batsman
is considered retired - out and may not
return to the innings.

So if you cop one and can't continue, but

recover in the rooms, you can come back out.
On the other hand, if you quit on your stool (to
borrow a phrase from boxing) you can't decide
you want back in later on and keep batting.

Two Sri Lankan batsmen retired out in 2001,

ironically against Bangladesh, because they
wanted to give their teammates some batting
practice. It's also happened a few times in T20
matches so teams could send in a left-handed
batsman to challenge the bowling attack. It's
not particularly sporting either way.

Bowled out is when the ball hits the stumps.
Hit wicket is when batsman's body or bat hits
the wickets.

Retired hurt is not a dismissal i.e the batter is not
out. Any player retired hurt can come back (if
physically fit) to bat again. For any other forms of
dismissals listed here a batter cannot come back
to bat again in the same innings.
