Through music, people may connect on a deep level and express themselves. There are

many different musical genres represented in it, from classical to modern music including pop,

rock, hip-hop, and electronic music. These genres represent the ever-evolving nature of musical

expression and offer listeners different experiences. We can better understand the different views

creating the musical landscape by examining different genres.

Today I will talk about different genres from my country’s music industry, but the same

song with some different lyrics. The song name is Halka Halka Suroor by Farhan Saeed and

Halka Halka Suroor by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The original version was Khans’ and was mainly

focused on poetry, it is deeply rooted in the Qawwali tradition which is known for love and

spiritual longing. Its genre is Sufi poetry, and its music contains instruments like reed organ,

drums, and handclaps. On the other hand, Saeed’s’ song is a copy of the original with some

different lyrics. It is focused on romantic and love themes and its genre is considered pop music.

They use Guitar, drums, and pianos in their song. Carrying out a moves analysis is more than just

an academic exercise. You can use this process whenever you need to write in a new genre

(Tardy 231). Tardy is explaining how we can do that by making moves analysis, we can create

any new genre, the artist who I mentioned before did the same thing.

Both the songs mentioned above are a masterpiece, but people with different tastes in

music listen to have their own opinions on them. Artists like Farhan Saeed and Nusrat Fateh Ali
