TASKS
You will find all the necessary files in the Classroom
WORD HOMEWORK EXERCISE

1. Open Microsoft word.


2. Open the file called lighthouse beach reserve
3. Make the formatting changes shown on the following page using the mini toolbar, The ribbon and the
font dialog box
4. When complete, save as "LighthouseBeachReserve_YourName" and close the document.
5. Upload your completed document to Moodle.
WORD HOMEWORK EXERCISE 2

1. Open the document Managing a Mortgage. Enable editing if required.


2. Press Ctrl A to select all the text in the document. Change it to Times New Roman 12pt font and change
the heading to centred, 22 pt.

The top of the heading has been cut off because the original document was typed using the exactly 12pt
line spacing option.
3. Ensure the home ribbon is displayed. To change the spacing to single, select the whole document and
click on the line spacing button from the paragraph group. Select 1.0. The problem with the heading will
be rectified
4. Change the font size of the side headings to 14 pt.
5. Save the file as "Managing a Mortgage1_Yourname" and keep it open.
6. Upload your completed document to Moodle.

WORD HOMEWORK EXERCISE 3

1. Ensure the managing a mortgage file is still open. This document was created in word 2010 format, so
there is 10pt spacing after each paragraph.
2. Select the whole document. Click on line and paragraph spacing button and select "remove space after
paragraph" to remove all paragraph spacing. You will now fine-tune the spacing yourself.
3. Deselect the text then right click in the centred heading. Select paragraph to display the dialog box.
4. Click on the "after" up spacing twice to display 12pt. click on ok.
5. Click in the side heading many types and display the paragraph dialog box. Click on the "before" up arrow
to display 6 pt. Press tab and type 3pt which will be displayed as shown at the right. Click on OK.
6. Click in the heading using a broker and press F4 to repeat the paragraph spacing applied to the previous
heading.
7. Select the first block of text from "The budget is usually..." down to "as low as 10%."
8. Apply 6pt spacing before and after.
9. Apply the same spacing to the other two blocks of body text in the document.
10. Save the file as "Managing a Mortgage2_Yourname" and close the document.
11. Upload your completed document to Moodle.
WORD HOMEWORK EXERCISE 4

1. In a new document, remove paragraph spacing and set line spacing to single.
2. Type the following heading, and format as shown

3. After the heading press enter twice.


4. Set the font to Calibri 12 pt, left aligned.
5. With the insert ribbon displayed, click on the table and create a table containing 4 columns and 7 rows.
6. Insert text as shown below. Press tab to move from cell to cell
7. Save the file as "EnglishGrades_Yourname" and close the document.
8. Upload your completed document to Moodle.
EXCEL HOMEWORK EXERCISE 1

1. Design a worksheet with appropriate headings and formatting that records the budget and usage for a new
mobile phone based on the following data:
HINT: Use separate cells for text and numeric values

2. Use Excel’s formula capacity to calculate monthly costs


3. Use Excel’s formula capacity to calculate yearly costs by assuming same data for each month.
4. Save as MobilePhoneUsage_YourName.xlsx
5. Upload your completed document to Moodle.

Recreate this spreadsheet the apply the following changes:


1. Headings to be bold, size 12 and left justified and Times New Roman font
2. Labels and values size 10 and centred
3. Show numbers as dollars (Currency)
4. Calculate total income and total expenses (Column I) for the 6months (use a formula)
5. Calculate the overall total income (Cell B11) and total Expenses (Cell B19)
6. Format the figures in column K to reflect percentages with 2 decimal places (Do not change the text use excel to change the view rather than the value)
7. Calculate the total profit for each month.
8. Calculate the net profit (Cell B21)
9. Save the completed worksheet as WirlWinds_YourNAME.xlsx and upload your finished file to Moodle
EXCEL HOMEWORK EXERCISE 2 – FORMULAS Instructions:

1. Download the file Arithmetic.xlsx from Moodle


2. Use cell referencing and excel formulas to complete the arithmetic 1 to 12
3. For 13, use the count function to count the number of arithmetic equations there
are (your answer should be 12)
4. Format the K column to be Currency
5. Format the L column to be Percentages
6. Format these Instruction cells to "Good"
7. Place a thick Dark Green border, only around the outside.
8. Save the finished file as "Arithmetic_YourName" and Upload to Moodle.

EXCEL HOMEWORK EXERCISE 3 – CHARTS

1. Create the following spreadsheet saving it as ChartExercise1_Yourname.xlsx.


(The totals in B9 and C9 should be created using a formula i.e. sum)

2. Select the range A4:C8

3. Click on the Insert tab, and from the Charts group, select Column.
a. Select a 3-D Clustered column chart (one on far left).
b. The chart will be drawn and the Chart Tools ribbon shows, giving easy access to the Charting
options.
4. Choose a Column chart and place it as a new sheet when you are asked.
5. Under the Design tab, try out some of the Charts Styles, selecting one you like.

6. Under the Layout tab, try out some of the options in the Labels group, and place:
a. Chart title
b. Axis titles
c. Legend.
d. Data labels
e. So that the chart resembles that shown below.

3. Rename the sheet as InTheAir


1. In a new sheet in the workbook ChartExercise1_Yourname.xlsx create the spreadsheet shown below.

2. Create a chart similar to the one shown below, and experiment with the options in the
Shape Styles group, under the Format tab when the chart is selected.
