In the formula bar, you can enter or edit data, a formula, or a function that will appear in a specific cell. In
this image, cell C1 is selected and 1984 is entered into the formula bar. Note how the data appears in both
the formula bar and in cell C1.

Function Formula Example

To add up the total (SUM) =SUM(cell range) =SUM(B2:B9)
To add individual items =Value1 + Value 2 =B2+C2
Subtract =Value1 - Value 2 =B2-C2
Multiply =Value1 * Value2 =B2*C2
Divide =Value1 / Value2 =B2/C2
Average =AVERAGE(cell range) =AVERAGE(B2:B9)
Max =MAX(cell range) =MAX(B2:B9)
Min =MIN(cell range) =MIN(B2:B9)

A formula is an equation that performs a calculation. Like a calculator, Excel can execute formulas that
add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Sum Formula is used to sum up a group of Numbers in a Particular Column. The Function Button is
there on the Home Tab. All you have to do is, select the part of the column and let the dedicated Button
sum up the group of Numbers. For Example:

This Formula will guide you through in case you were searching for how to Calculate Average in Excel.
All you have to do is, click on a cell towards the right or below the numbers of which you need to find
the Average for. Now go to the Home TAB, Edit Option, click on the AutoSum, click on the AVERAGE
and then press enter.

The most important and used Function in Excel has been SUM and the COUNT Formula. Excel Count
function, helps you to find out and count the number or Cells that contains numbers.

Supposedly, the IF Function is considered to be good to perform a Logical Test. And then this Function
of Excel returns one Value for true Results and the other Value for False. To bring out the information
of Truth and False depending upon the Parameter put forward in the variable Box.

Note: with IF Formula, You can use any of the following Logical operators

COUNTIF Formula is the Advanced Excel Formula. This has great uses of Conditional Functions. The
COUNTIF Formula will help you to Count all the cells that match a certain criteria. To find out
the solution of your question. COUNTIF Function does not Add up the Matching Values from the cells.
What it does is, it Pulls and shows you the set. So, you can use COUNTIF as the advanced solution here.

Note: In COUNTIF Function, the values can be supplied directly in the form of Criteria. The text has to be
enclosed in the double quotations i.e. (“”). Whereas, in a situation where you’ve already got a criteria in
the another cell. In this case, the Cell address can be supplied as the Criteria without quotations. You can
see the same in the above example.

Charts are used to display series of numeric data in a graphical format.

How to create a Chart in Excel?

1- To create a chart in Excel, you start by entering the numeric data for the chart
on a worksheet.

2- Select the cells to draw the chart.

Move Chart to New Sheet

1. Select your chart.

2. From “Design” menu.
3. Click on “Move chart”.
4. Choose “New sheet”, change the sheet name then press
“OK”.

1. Column Chart “Vertical Bar Chart”

We use the column chart to compare 2 or more
values with a small set of results.

2. Line Chart
A line graph is often used to show a trend over a
number of days or hours.

Page 8 of 19
3. Pie Chart
A Pie chart is using different – sized sectors of circle to
represent data in percentage (%)

4. Bar Chart
We use this chart to compare 2 or more values with a
small set of results.

5. Area Chart
Area charts are much like line charts, but they display 600,000
different colors in the areas below the lines. 500,000
Region 3 400,000
300,000
Region 2
200,000
Region 1

6. Pictogram
A pictogram is using pictures to represent data. It
must have a key.

7. Scatter Diagram
Scatter diagrams show the relationship between
two sets of variables. By looking at the diagram
you can see whether there is a link between
variables. Where there is a link it is
called correlation.
