Section A – General (22 marks)

1. WV is one of the main WASH actors in Azraq camp. Complete the table below by filling
in the minimum standards for each activity mentioned. Additionally, describe some of the
steps you will take to B) ensure community acceptance and C) coordination with all
stakeholders in the camp.

workers per 1,000 people is common. Outreach workers and volunteers
should have good communication skills, be able to build respectful
relationships with local communities

B. Steps for ensuring community acceptance (8 marks)

Steps for coordination with all stakeholders in the camp (6 marks)

especially since they can save time in conveying the message to a large number of people________

Section B – Scenario-based/Technical (38 marks)


Scenario
A recently ongoing project in Azraq camp aims to provide 150 private latrines to the refugee
HHs which include disabilities cases, and aims to provide water supply for this 150 HHs. The
current situation of the shelters in the camp as below:
- They are using public latrines.
- They are using the public distribution points for filling jerry cans.

Key facts
On average there are 6 people per household.
The households are likely to continue living in the camp for the foreseeable future.
Questions
1. Calculate the water needs for the target HHs. (4 marks)
They have 150 HH and 6 people per HH SO we have 900 person and 20 l per day then 18 m3
per day

2. What are the key hydraulic parameters that you will take into account when assessing
whether a pump system could be installed to transport water from a potable source
5km away from the camp? (5 marks)

3- Valve: is a device that regulates controls or directs the flow of a fluid by opening,
closing, or partially obstructing fluid flow. It is a mechanical device that controls the
flow and pressure of fluid within a system or Process.
4- Water Meter: A water meter is a device used to measure the flow of water through
an outlet. It is usually employed for stipulating water charges and enabling cost
recovery.
5- Pumps: A pump is a machine that is used to lift water to a high elevation in a
distribution system

3. By using the table below and according to the proposed design in Annex 1, prepare
the basic BoQ for main elements to construct 150 latrines. (13 marks)

4. Propose activities and include the number and positions of WV staff and the Syrian

Description:

The Volunteer will be responsible of:

 Support in the implementation of project activities directly in the places of implementation


 Support in the logistics processes to procure, store and distribute stocks, supplies and services
for the timely delivery of project objectives.
 Receiving training on concrete and sanitary works
 Any other duty assigned by the WV staff in the framework of the construction of latrines
activities.

Job Summary
The main purpose of the position is, under the management of the WASH/Shelter Program Manager,
to implement Concern’s WASH activities in informal settlements.
This role includes gathering information and data on informal settlements locations, WASH technical
assessments, consultation with project beneficiaries, BOQ preparation and review of construction
activities, negotiations of agreements with contractors, and monitoring of Concern’s activities. It also
includes responsibilities around support and mobilisation of refugee communities; oversight and
monitoring of infrastructure construction; conducting assessments and general coordination and
reporting.

Responsibility:

 Oversee the day-to-day construction activities


 Ensure project work sites meet all legal, environmental, health and safety requirements.
 Ensure all activities carried out by the contractor are of the highest quality and on time in
accordance with the approved plans, specifications and work schedule.
 Maintain a daily site diary, recording all works activities, number of men on site, number and type
of all plant on site, testing of materials, quality of the work, any difficulties encountered in
carrying out the work and any suggestion by the contractor of an intention to claim for extra
payment for any reason.
 Ensure that all required testing of materials is carried out and that detailed records are maintained.
 Ensure that all aspects of the work are carried out accurately by checking all lines, levels and
measurements.
 Ensure the contractor’s compliance with the approved construction schedule.
 Close coordination with all stake holders/community on daily activities to ensure smooth project
implementation.
 Arrange ad-hoc meetings, as required, with the contractor and other stakeholders on the project
site.

 Report to the Senior Engineer/Project Manager daily on the activities undertaken highlighting
challenges/problems encountered on site.
 Update the construction schedule based on actual accomplishments to monitor progress of the
contract on a weekly basis.
 Engage in the referral system by collecting referrals from the beneficiaries on site and referring
them in coordination with the referral focal point to improve service provision.
 Participate to the Emergency Response through site visits, RNA assessments, distributions, etc.
 Participate in the COVID-19 response of CWW through assessments and distributions of IPC,
disinfection and hygiene kits.
 Create and train WASH committees in the ISs where the intervention is taking place to promote
community participation and ownership of facilities.
 Prepare and submit weekly progress reports with working drawings indicating accomplishments
to monitor progress.
 Represent Concern at local meetings with stakeholders, contractor and other relevant actors as
necessary.
 Coordinate project activities with other actors and stakeholders in the programme area as
necessary, especially the WASH actor in the area.
 Work with the community, ensuring they have full knowledge of the on-going project, its
progress and expectations.
