THERE’S POWER IN YOUR SPOKEN WORDS!

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this moun-

tain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does
not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he
says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Mark 11:23 NKJV

One day, as Jesus and His disciples were returning to Jerusalem from
Bethany, He sighted a fig tree in the distance, and being hungry, He
drew close to it, expecting to find some figs to eat. When He got to the
tree, however, there were no figs because it wasn’t yet the season for
figs. Then Jesus spoke to the fig tree in the hearing of His disciples; He
said, “...No one shall ever eat figs from you again...” (Mark 11:14 GNB).
It so happened that they passed through that same route the next day,
and Peter, remembering what had transpired the previous day, said
to the Lord, “…Teacher, look! The tree you put a curse on has dried
up” (Mark 11:21 CEV). Jesus responded by telling Peter (and the other
disciples) to have the God-kind of faith (Mark 11:22). What did He
mean by the God-kind of faith? The God-kind of faith is the faith that
believes in the heart and speaks accordingly. This is what Jesus taught
in our opening verse. By His statement, Jesus wasn’t teaching about
mountains or problems, but about the power of the spoken word— the
Word in your mouth. We can therefore conclude that the key point
in Mark 11:23 is: “You shall have what you say!” Your words would
certainly come to pass when you speak in faith. There’s power in your
mouth!

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the ability to
create whatever I desire through my faith-filled words. I declare
that I walk in divine health, protection, peace and prosperity,
and supernatural success, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!

1
COMMUNICATE DIVINE WISDOM

We do speak wisdom among those who are mature;

a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers
of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God’s
wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God
predestined before the ages to our glory.
1 Corinthians 2:6-7 (NASB)

Before Lazarus died, his sisters had sent a message to Jesus that His
dear friend was deathly sick. When Jesus heard this, He remained
where He was for two more days, then told
His disciples, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him
up” (John 11:11). By this time Lazarus was already dead, but Jesus didn’t
call Him dead. However, His disciples didn’t understand His spiritual
communication and replied Him: “Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.”
So, Jesus had to speak to them plainly and say, “Lazarus is dead” (John
11:14). As you grow spiritually, you’ll find it increasingly difficult
to communicate with those who aren’t as spiritually enlightened as
you. If you felt a headache, for example, you wouldn’t say, “I have a
headache.” Yet, the unenlightened Christian sees nothing wrong with
talking that way. Truth is, when you say you’ve got a headache, you’ve
claimed it, and you aren’t supposed to claim what isn’t from God. Yes,
you might feel the pain, but use the Word against it, and it’ll pass out
of your body. The life you’re living “today” was crafted by the words
you spoke “yesterday,” and what your life will be in years to come will
be determined by the words you speak today. So, if you want a glorious
life, then say only what God says about you. Practice making your talk
align with His Word, and not your sensory perceptions.
PRAYER
I choose to speak and function according to God’s description
of me. I’m what He says I am. I have the grace to excel in every-
thing. I live in divine health, prosperity, joy and abundance, in
Jesus’ Name. Amen.

2
THE GOD LANGUAGE

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which

sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should
say, and what I should speak.

John 12:49 KJV

In the above Scripture, Jesus made a profound statement which

implied that His Communication(what He says) and Message(what He
speaks) were not according to his own desires and will but according
to His Father’s Commandments. He went on to affirm this in the next
verse saying : “And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:
whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I
speak”. John 12:50
As a child of God, Whose words do you communicate in your daily
interaction with others? In as much as God has tabernacled himself
in us and given us His life, We have the God-nature. By virtue of this
God-nature, we cannot speak just any words; words of hopelessness,
lack, faithlessness and other negative words. Our language must align
with our Divine Nature so that we can release our divinity into this
World. Jesus could say, the Words that I speak they are Spirit and
Life (John 6:63) because He spoke the Father’s Divine Words. That is
why we must be slow to speak (James 1: 19) so that we can process
our thoughts and words according to God’s Commandments. Then
every word we speak will impart Life and Blessings to others and into
Situations.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I thank you for giving me your Divine Life.
I no longer live to please myself but to please you. Therefore,
I speak according to your divine Commandments, in Jesus’
Name. Amen.

3
WALK ON LIFE’S WATERS

So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty fur-
longs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh
unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he saith unto them,
It is I; be not afraid. Then they willingly received him into the
ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they
went.
John 6:19-21 KJV
Moses’ successor, Joshua, had witnessed the splitting of the Red Sea.
Now, he was faced with a similar challenge: the children of Israel
needed to get over to Jericho, but right in their path was the River
Jordan. Then God instructed Joshua to tell the priests carrying the ark
of the Lord to step into the Jordan ahead of the others. As soon as they
did, the waters separated for the children of Israel to go through on
dry ground (Joshua 3:17), just as it happened at the Red Sea in the days
of Moses. Many years later, the Prophet Elijah and his servant Elisha
came to the same river. This time, Elijah rolled up his cloak and struck
the water with it, and the river split open for them to go through.
Afterwards, Elisha did the same thing to return home (2 Kings 2:14
MSG). Amazing feats indeed! Fast-forward hundreds of years later to
the Lord Jesus: On a certain night, He went up the mountain to pray
alone. When He was done, He wanted to rejoin His disciples, but they
were already far out at sea. Unlike Moses, Joshua, Elijah, and Elisha,
He didn’t need to divide the sea and walk on dry ground; He simply
walked right on top of the water. How awesome He is! Guess what?
You’re just like Him! You’ve got His life and nature in you; for as He is,
so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). No need to command the Jordan
in your way to split wide open; just walk on the water like Jesus did!
Talk your way through! That’s the way out of trouble and adversity!
PRAYER
I’m what God says I am – a member of His body, of His flesh
and of His bones! Greater is He that is in me, than he that’s in
the world! I’m on an upward and forward journey of progress
and success, and I’m positioned for glory and excellence, in
Jesus’ Name. Amen.
4
WALK IN HIS PERFECTION!

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the
Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things
freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in
words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the
Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
1 Corinthians 2:12-13 NKJV

You’re God’s child, and you can walk in His perfection. You’ve been
perfected in Christ
Jesus (Hebrews 10:14). He’s made His wisdom available to you in
Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:30). To appropriate this wisdom in your
life; you’ve got to confess it and act like it. You declare thus: “God’s
wisdom in me makes me think, talk, and act rightly; the Lord leads
me everywhere I go.” His wisdom becomes your confession, and then
it guides your mind in the direction of your words. Another important
thing you need for the life in Christ is praying in the spirit; that means
praying in tongues. Doing so quickens and energizes your spirit. It
causes your spirit to pick up the signals of God, and gives you accuracy
in the things you do, and the more accurate you are, the more effective
you become, and the more results you get. When you function by God’s
Spirit in these two important ways, your spirit becomes so sensitive to
God’s Spirit that things concerning you (and even others within your
sphere of influence) are brought to your consciousness quickly and
easily, such that when you talk or act, you’re always on point. You’ll
become more accurate in the things you do and you’ll find that you’re
always on top all the time!

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, I’m full of your Spirit and I have your
divine wisdom in me. I’m accurate and efficient in all I do be-
cause I’m piloted by your Word and Spirit, in the Name of Jesus.
Amen.

5
BELIEVE AND SPEAK

Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had who

wrote, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We
too believe, and therefore we speak.

2 Corinthians 4:13 (AMPC)

The Lord Jesus said in Mark 11:23, “Truly I say to you, whoever says
to this mountain, “Be taken up and cast into the sea,” and does not
doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it
will be granted him.” Some Bible commentaries and translations make
it sound as though Jesus’ emphasis here was on the mountain. But the
original text indicates that the Master’s emphasis was on the “saying”
part of faith—which is a law of the Spirit. This law indicates that you’ll
have what you say— either positive or negative, for death and life are
in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21); this is a spiritual law.
Spiritual laws are very much like physical laws. They’ll work for you if
you apply them rightly or against you if you abuse them. As Christians,
we reign and win in life by operating spiritual laws. This is why you
must always speak words that are consistent with the realities of the
new creation. When you hear God’s Word, faith comes to you. And
when you believe and endorse it as truth with your words, refusing
to consider the current circumstances, you activate the law of faith!
Until you say it, you can’t have it. When you ask the Lord for anything,
simply believe that you’ve received it, and speak accordingly. Don’t
wait to see it first, for faith is of the spirit. It’s the response of the human
spirit to the Word of God. It calls real that which the physical senses
cannot perceive.
PRAYER
I look away from all distracting influences and focus my atten-
tion on God’s eternal and infallible Word. Irrespective of what
I see, hear or feel, I’m convinced that I’m a victor and a success
in Christ Jesus! I’m what God says I am; I have what He says I
have, and I can do what He says I can do. Hallelujah.
6
SPEAK DIVINE WISDOM

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spir-

itual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:1 KJV

Have you ever read the story of Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the
dead? Well, before he died, his sisters had sent a message to Jesus that
His dear friend was deathly sick. When Jesus heard this, He remained
where He was for two more days, then told His disciples, “...Our friend
Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up” (John 11:11). By
this time Lazarus was already dead, but Jesus didn’t call Him dead.
However, His disciples didn’t understand His spiritual communication
and replied Him: “Lord, if he sleeps he will get better.” So Jesus had
to speak to them plainly and say, “Lazarus is dead.” As you grow
spiritually, you’ll find it increasingly difficult to communicate with
those who aren’t as spiritually enlightened as you. If you felt some pain
in your head, for example, you wouldn’t say, “I have a headache.” Yet,
the unenlightened Christian sees nothing wrong with talking that way.
Truth is, when you say you’ve got a headache, you’ve claimed it. But you
aren’t supposed to claim what isn’t from God. Yes, you might feel the
pain, but use the Word against it, and it’ll pass out of your body. The life
you’re living “today” was crafted by the words you spoke “yesterday,”
and what your life will be in years to come will be determined by the
words you speak today. So if you want a glorious life, only say what
God says about you. Practise making your talk align with His Word,
and not your sensory perceptions.
PRAYER
I choose to speak and function according to God’s description
of me. I’m what He says I am. I have the grace to excel in every-
thing. I live in divine health, prosperity, joy and abundance, in
Jesus’ Name. Amen.

7
CHART YOUR PATH WITH YOUR MOUTH

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they
who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or
life].

Proverbs 18:21 AMP

As God’s child, what becomes of your life is entirely up to you. If you’re
waiting on God to do anything more about your life, your wait will
be in vain, because He already did all that’s required for you to have a
perfect, excellent, glorious, and triumphant life; everything about you
had been settled by Him way before the world was founded (Hebrews
4:3). All you have to do now is enjoy your life: enjoy all that the death,
burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ provided for you! 2 Peter 1:3
says, “…His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to
life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by
glory and virtue.” Do you see that it’s happened already? You’ve been
given everything you require for the transcendent life. Knowing how
to make all that already belongs to you in Christ—all He’s made you
and has done for you—a vital reality in your life has been the missing
link! You may not know this, but every time you speak, you shape your
life and future to either synchronise with God’s divine provisions and
destiny for you or to be at variance with it. You’re today what you said
years ago. This means you’re fully responsible for your life and future;
they’re in your mouth. What becomes of you in life is the result of your
tongue-work. Stop talking about your problems; rather, declare your
glorious life in Christ. Declare how you want things to be, in line with
the Word. Don’t wait for anyone to do it for you; by your own words,
chart your course. Take charge of your life with your mouth!
PRAYER
Father, I thank you for your glory in my life! The light of your
Word is shining ever so brightly in, and through me, and
all things are working together for my good. I live in health,
success, and prosperity, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

8
IT IS ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this moun-

tain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does
not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he
says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Mark 11:23 NKJV

When you read Genesis 1, you’d find God brought order to a formerly
chaotic world through the power of speech, revealing what you can, and
are supposed to do with words. You’re made in God’s image and likeness.
Therefore, if you think there’s darkness in any area of your life, proclaim
the Word. The Word of God is light, and as you speak, the light of God
will manifest and completely obliterate the darkness. Your mouth is what
controls and determines everything else about your life and destiny. You’re
what you say; your words locate you and determine your destiny. Jesus said:
“You shall have what you say” (Mark 11:23). Proverbs 18:21 says, “Words kill,
words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose” (MSG). Whether
you live or die depends on your mouth, the words you speak. The Lord Jesus
affirmed the same thing. He said, “…By your words you will be acquitted,
and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:37). The primary
reason God gave you your mouth is to steer your life in God’s direction for
you—it wasn’t given to you for just eating and drinking. Today, you’re either
doing excellently at school, enjoying divine health, and living in abundance,
getting ill, and living poorly as a result of the words you’ve been speaking.
The Bible says, “Kind words heal and help; cutting words wound and maim”
(Proverbs 15:4 MSG). 1 Peter 3:10 declares, “…the one who desires life, to
love and see good days, must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from
speaking deceit.” It’s that simple: you can have a great life and enjoy your days
in God’s blessings and goodness continuously if you’d just use your tongue
God’s way. It’s about what you say!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the gift and power of speech. My life
is beautiful, excellent and full of glory. My words are wholesome
because I’m taught by the Spirit to speak life and wisdom all the time.
I’m fulfilling your purpose for my life gloriously, in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
9
TALK RIGHT, LIVE RIGHT

Words can bring death or life! Talk too much, and you
will eat everything you say.

Proverbs 18:21 (CEV)

Reading this scripture above lets you know how powerful and creative words
can be. With your choice of words, you can bring yourself more of life or more
of death. It’s therefore important that you’re careful not to speak of yourself
in a way that contradicts the Word of God in your life. It’s quite easy to get
caught up with the negative language of the world: people, young and old
alike, easily talk fear, lack, defeat, and failure. They see nothing wrong with
it, because it’s second nature to them. However, as God’s child, you shouldn’t
imbibe such culture or talk because you’re not of this world. Your language,
therefore, must be different. When a Christian talk negatively, it rubs off on
his spirit, contradicts the work of God in his life and affects his spirit. This
is why some Christians who claim to know the Word of faith find it difficult
to produce supernatural results in their lives. Their spirits have been loaded
with the wrong stuff which must be removed through the knowledge of God’s
Word. As you study and meditate on the Word, the circumstances of your life
are altered to conform to the realities of God’s Word. The more you imbibe
His Word, the more you’re transformed from glory to glory, with the Word
building in you a positive mentality (2 Corinthians 3:18). If you’re a student
in the university or college, for example, no matter what task or project that’s
set before you, learn to say “I can do this through Christ!” That’s what Apostle
Paul meant when he said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me” (Philippians 4:13). Recognise that you’re sufficient with God’s sufficiency,
and as a result, you can do all things. Eliminate all forms of negativism and
pessimism from your speech and vocab. Train yourself through God’s Word
to see only boundless possibilities, and have the “I-can-do mentality and
talking.”
PRAYER
Dear Lord, I thank you for the glory of your Word in my life! Your
Word lightens my path through life, and I can see all the great levels
of glory you’ve planned out for me to walk in. Amen.
