Chapter 2
SPEAKING TEST #1: PAIR CONVERSATION (10% of the total score for the course)
In this activity, you will participate in a pair work conversation. You will have to plan a conversation
together with your partner based on the selected topic.
STEP 2: SPEAK
On the speaking test week, each pair of students is required to participate in pair work conversation. Out of
the total of 10 points for this test, there are 8 points for their speaking performance and 2 points for
answering questions. Read the following scorecard to understand how students will be scored in the speaking
test.

Chapter 3
SPEAKING TEST #2: PAIR CONVERSATION (10% of the total score for the course)
In this activity, you will participate in a pair work conversation. You will have to plan a conversation
with your partner based on the selected topic.
STEP 1: PREPARE
● Look at the suggested topics in the box below and decide which one you and your partner are interested
in.
● You can research information online to learn more about your topic.
● Then prepare a conversation. Your conversation must contain the vocabulary, grammar and expressions
from Chapter 3.
● Each conversation must be at least 2.30 minutes and no more than 3 minutes in length.
● Practice the conversation with your partner.

On the speaking test week, each pair of students is required to participate in a pair work conversation. Out of
the total of 10 points for this test, there are 8 points for their speaking performance and 2 points for
answering questions. Read the following scorecard to understand how students will be scored in the speaking
test.

STEP 3: QUESTION AND ANSWER
On the speaking test week, teacher asks each pair of students two questions about the topic or the
conversation for a total of 2 points. Read the following scorecard to understand how students will be scored
in this part.

STEP 1: PREPARE

interested in.
● You can research information online to learn more about your topic.
● Then prepare a conversation or discussion. Your conversation or discussion must contain the vocabulary,
grammar and expressions from Chapter 4.
● Each conversation or discussion must be at least 3 minutes and no more than 4 minutes in length.
● Practice the conversation or discussion with your group members.

discussion. Out of the total of 10 points for this test, there are 8 points for their speaking performance and 2
points for giving peer feedback. Read the following scorecard to understand how students will be scored for
their speaking performance.

group of 4 – 5 students and plan a conversation or discussion for the group based on your selected topic.
STEP 1: PREPARE
● Look at the suggested topics in the box below and decide which one you and your group members are
interested in.
● You can research information online to learn more about your selected topic.
● Then prepare a conversation or discussion. Your conversation or discussion must contain the vocabulary,
grammar and expressions from Chapter 5.
● Each conversation or discussion must be at least 3 minutes and no more than 4 minutes in length.
● Practice the conversation or discussion with your group members.
