UNIVERSAL VALUES

The Universal values they are values that apply to all types of human
beings, regardless of their social, ethnic or cultural origin. A value is
considered universal when it goes beyond laws and beliefs; rather, it is
considered to have the same meaning for all people and does not vary
according to the societies.

The definition of universal value and its existence are conjectures subject
to studies in social sciences, such as moral philosophy and cultural
anthropology. In fact, cultural relativism is a belief that opposes the
existence of universal values; proposes that a value can not be universal
because it is perceived differently in each culture.

There are two meanings for the universal rights

The first is that a large number of human beings, under different living
conditions and subjected to different beliefs, find a certain human
characteristic as valuable. In that case, the characteristic in question
would then be called a universal value.

The second is that something is considered a universal value when all

human beings have reason to think that it is a characteristic that is
generally valued, regardless of whether or not it is believed in said
characteristic.

The five universal values

• Love: Love is nurturing, sustaining, attracting, expanding, unifying and self-

sacrificing. Love is life. Who we are, is love. All there is love.
• Truth Those seeking to live practically according to Truth, will do their best to
be honest with themselves and with others, and will be true to their word.
• Pace In its practical application, those seeking to be in Peace, will practise self-
discipline, patience, tolerance and non-attachment.
• Conduct respect for society’s laws, their parents and elders, and the customs
and practices of other cultures and faiths.
• Non violence
• Non violence Those trying to practise Non-Violence will try to avoid expressing
anger, resentment, envy, jealousy and bitterness, instead, doing their best to
cultivate Love and Peace.
