Alex felt as though he had been climbing for years. The heavy rain pierced his soft skin
like sharp arrows and a gust of strong wind whipped past him, making it really difficult to
trudge forwards and upwards across the treacherous mountainside. Rivulets of water
rushed down, slackening his pace as muddy puddles formed all around him. The
thunderous sound of rain wreaking havoc disturbed Alex tremendously. All of a sudden,
a flash of lightning illuminated the sky and to his utter disappointment, Alex lost his
balance and went sliding down the slushy slope like a sledge moving on snow.

However, he was still determined to reach the top. That was where the lost emerald was
rumoured to be. All around him were demon-shaped rocks, sharp edges and thick
clouds that seemed to engulf him in their embrace. If he succumbed now, it could be the
last thing he ever did. That was impossible!!! As he climbed, Alex noticed that the cloud
was beginning to thin and the rain reduced to a mere pitter patter. Suddenly, he could
see what was ahead of him. It was amazing. When he set out to find the lost emerald,
Alex knew that he was going to see new things, gain new experiences and face new
challenges; but he didn’t expect this. What he could see was a mystical castle that was
balancing at the very top of the mountain. It was mesmerising!!

Surprisingly, the dark clouds, heavy rain and strong wind vanished in thin air as the Sun
took over the spotlight, beaming down on the majestic castle and adding a warm glow to
it. Alex was astounded! He gazed up at the colossal castle and whispered, "Oh Lord!
What a beautiful sight to behold!"

Inching forward, Alex noticed that there was no one around the castle-it stood there in
all its splendour, silent and still. To his utter astonishment, Alex realised that the walls of
the castle were made of the same lost emerald that he had been searching for. His jaw
dropped in wonder!!

Alex happily ventured inside the castle, exploring every nook and corner. Huge
fireplaces adorned with glittering green gemstones stood steadfastly like guards
protecting a sacred monument. Roaming around the long corridors, touching and feeling
the antique furniture made Alex smile to himself.

"Wow...it seems like I am in heaven! This is ethereal!" Alex mumbled as he gazed

around the hallway.

The Forest of Ha Pouri was absolutely fascinating as it was filled with magical and
mystical creatures that were found wandering aimlessly around the dark dense depths
of the forest. Although it appeared gloomy and was always shrouded with dirt and was
damp with drizzle, it was still probably one of the most magnificent places that one
would ever see in their life. However, it was filled with numerous trees that towered like
skyscrapers and obstructed the warm rays of the sun shining brightly high up in the sky.

Fortunately, the forest was home to millions of fireflies who spent their days floating
around the trees, bushes and mushrooms and illuminating the vast expanse of land.

Finch, the king of the forest, whizzed around the tall trees, humming sweet songs for all
the creatures who gazed at him in sheer amazement. He was the most adorable spirit
and all the fantastical beings of the forest loved him dearly. Half human and half elf,
Finch fluttered around flapping his wings and was the guardian spirit of the secret
treasure of the elf community. This treasure was a family heirloom that had been
passed down for generations.

Meticulously placed in a secret cave ,the treasure chest was tied securely with vines
and shielded by sturdy magical leaves. No one was allowed to approach the cave and
Finch magically floated around it like a guardian angel. Nonetheless, his duties and
responsibilities did not hinder his attitude for all the creatures of his kingdom.

The inhabitants of Ha Pouri resided in massive magical mushrooms that granted wishes
to all the needy creatures and beings. Normally, all the residents lived peacefully and
the only sound that broke the silence was the whoosh of spirits passing by or the sound
of tiny footsteps scampering into the shadows. Everyone kept an eagle's eye on the
treasure which was a part of their legacy.

As the thick fog descended, a massive outline appeared in front of them and the
children came to a standstill. They stared into each other's eyes, exchanging frightening
looks that mirrored their pain and anxiety.

The humongous house stood there beckoning them to venture inside. Paul, who was
the leader of the group, mumbled, "I can barely see through the fog. What is this
strange structure looming over us like a frightening elephant?"

All around, they could hear strange sounds like creaking, screaming, wailing, howling,
piercing the silence and exploding in their ears. Suddenly, some footsteps seemed to
come closer to them. And then there was dead silence.

" What was that? Did you hear eerie sounds?" Anna queried, her eyes darting around in
panic.

Knowing that they wouldn’t be able to find their way back home through the dense fog
and fearing that the strange figure was still after them, the children had no choice but to
go through the weather-beaten wooden door. It creaked as they pushed it open.

Inside, the air hung with the smell of damp and decay. All of a sudden, a shrill voice
reverberated in the hallway, "Welcome to my world!"

The children froze!!

The clock stopped ticking! The wind stopped howling! The voice stopped speaking!

Paul turned white with fear and stood there like a statue. Anna hurriedly pulled him
closer.

The masses of cobwebs that hung from every surface made it clear that this house had
been abandoned for a very, very, very long time. However, there was a strange eerie
presence all around them as if someone was watching their movements.

Write a description with the title, ‘A sunny day in a town or city’.

Vocabulary- blazed/beamed, beads of perspiration, coastal town, wild waves lashing out
like a chained monster, Sunday, townsfolk were out to bask in the sun, children making
sand castles, rushing around and scooping sand, warm wind whizzing past tanned
uplifted faces, a crab scuttling ashore, seagulls circling overhead like a helicopter
waiting to land

A cloudless sky stretched out endlessly painting it with hues of gold and blue. The
radiant ball of warmth spread its soft yellow rays on the town of Hazelberg. The town
was dripping with sunshine and all the townsfolk came out in huge numbers to absorb
this show of brilliance. Normally, Hazelberg was rumoured to be cursed by the Greek
God and therefore the Sun was very briefly visible all around the year.

The huge town clock struck nine in the morning. A siren blared out in the distance. All
the roads leading up to the beach were blocked by cars, bicycles, scooties and bikes.
The ferocious honking of horns followed by loud yelps of laughter and cheer filled the
cool soothing air. Rhythmic melodies created a soundtrack for the day.

The soft , warm sand tickled everyone’s barefoot toes with each following step . Fresh
scent of seawater filled the air and a gentle warm breeze carried a hint of sweet coconut
aroma all around . Colourful umbrellas , beach towels and sand equipment created a
sense of leisure and relaxation .

As the day unfolded, the seawater glistened in various shades of blue and green,
inviting swimmers to dive in its depths. Surfers glided through the waves like mermaids
displaying their skills on the aquamarine sea that glittered like gold. The day progressed
at snail's pace , transforming the sky into hues of pink and orange. The transition from
morning to noon brought a sense of calmness, enjoyment and contentment to all the
beachgoers. Spending time under the watchful rays of the fireball blazing high up in the
sky added an element of fun and joy.
