SUSTAINABLE FASHION

Today, I want to talk about something which is on rife in the media and also is calling us for a
change in our decisions in order to reduce our environmental carbon print
– sustainable fashion.

This staff is so related to me, I’ve been into fashion so many years and the last two months
before I had the opportunity to create my fashion eco-sustainable brand, and also being part of
the marketing area taking decisions and carrying them out.

For me, fashion is not just about looking good, it’s a way of express ourselves, our values an
concerns

But lets let’s face it, our operation have a negative impact on environmental, the fashion
industry produces a lot of pollution – about 10% of global carbon emissions come from it. Fast
fashion, which is making clothes quickly and cheaply, makes the problem worse. It leads to
pollution, cutting down trees, and creating a lot of waste. Every year, a huge 92 million tons of
old clothes are thrown away worldwide. We need to think about how our clothing choices
affect the planet.

On the social side, many people who make our clothes work in tough conditions and get paid
very little. About 75 million people work in the global fashion industry, and many of them face
exploitation. But some brands, like Ecoalf in Spain, are trying to change this. They care about
fair pay and good working conditions. Supporting such brands helps create a more fair and kind
industry.
Now, let's talk about what we can do. Just by keeping our clothes for a bit longer, we can
reduce their impact on the environment. Small changes, like choosing classic clothes and
avoiding fast fashion, can make a big difference. Also, we can try to reuse and recycle clothes.
These choices show the fashion industry that we care about the planet.
Setting clear objectives is essential, and my target is to focus on supporting small-scale
producers. By doing so, we contribute to a more sustainable and ethical fashion ecosystem.
Time is of the essence, as we only have 10 years left to address the critical issues of climate
change and biodiversity.
To tackle the problem of overproduction, better algorithms are needed. These algorithms can
predict consumer behavior and guide production accordingly, reducing excess production and
minimizing waste. It is imperative to align production with actual consumer demand to create a
more sustainable and efficient fashion industry.
There are good things happening too! Some brands, like Stella McCartney, Patagonia, and
Ecoalf in Spain, are leading the way in sustainability. Ecoalf, based in Madrid, uses recycled
materials, including plastics from the ocean, in their designs. This is a step towards a more
sustainable future.
People and governments all around the world are starting to take action. Many countries are
making plans to reduce pollution and be more sustainable. It's great to see everyone caring
more about the environment.
In conclusion, sustainable fashion is something we all need to think about. By making smart
choices and supporting brands that care about the planet, we can help make the fashion
industry better. Brands like Ecoalf show us that fashion can be stylish and good for the
environment. Let's keep making choices that help our planet and the generations to come.
Thank you for listening, and let's keep doing things that are good for our planet!
