Past perfect statements (grammatical tense)

When? - We use it to describe event that occurred in the past, before other events in the past.

How? I need an auxiliary verb (had) and a main verb (past participle)

Already vs yet

Already is used in affirmative sentences to express that an action had occurred

When I arrived home, my sister had already eaten.

When we arrive, the meeting had already finished.


UNIT 1

Yet is used in negative sentences to express that an action hadn’t occurred

When I arrived home, my sister hadn’t yet eaten or hadn’t eaten yet

When we arrived, the meeting hadn’t yet finished or hadn’t finished yet
