Hadith References

1. Hadith on Allah's Knowledge and Sustenance: Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet (peace be
upon him) said, "Allah the Almighty has said: The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to
do so. And he reviled Me and he had no right to do so. As for his denying Me, it is his saying: He
will not remake me as He made me at first (1). And the initial creation (of him) is no easier for
Me than remaking him. As for his reviling Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken to Himself a son,
while I am the One, the Everlasting Refuge. I begot not nor was I begotten, and there is none
comparable to Me." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

2. Hadith on Allah's Mercy and Forgiveness: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of
Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad deeds." He
then explained it (by saying): "He who intended to do a good deed but did not do it, Allah writes
it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he intended it and did it, Allah writes it down
with Himself as from ten to seven hundred times, and even more. But if he intended to do an evil
deed and did not do it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he intended it
and did it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed." (Sahih Muslim)

3. Hadith on Allah's Concern for His Creation: Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah
(peace be upon him) said, "When Allah created the creatures, He wrote in the Book, which is with
Him over His Throne: 'Verily, My mercy prevailed over My wrath.'" (Sahih al-Bukhari)

4. Hadith on Allah's Proximity: Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
"Our Lord descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and
says: 'Who is calling Me, so that I may answer him? Who is asking Me, so that I may give to
him? Who is seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?'" (Sahih al-Bukhari)

5. Hadith on Allah's Compassion for His Servants: Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet (peace be
upon him) said, "Allah has one hundred portions of mercy, and He sent down from these portions
one portion by which His creatures show mercy to one another, and He has kept back ninety-nine
portions for the Day of Resurrection." (Sahih Muslim)

6. Hadith on Allah's Response to Repentance: Abu Huraira reported: I heard Allah's Messenger
(peace be upon him) saying: "By Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in
repentance more than seventy times a day." (Sahih Muslim)

7. Hadith on Allah's Love for His Servants: Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet (peace be upon
him) said, "When Allah loves a servant, He calls Gabriel and says, 'I love So-and-so, therefore
love him.' So Gabriel loves him. Then he (Gabriel) calls out in heaven, saying, 'Allah loves So-
and-so, therefore love him.' And the inhabitants of heaven love him. Then acceptance is
established for him on earth. And if Allah hates a servant, He calls Gabriel and says, 'I hate So-
and-so, therefore hate him.' So Gabriel hates him. Then Gabriel calls out to the inhabitants of
heaven, 'Allah hates So-and-so, therefore hate him.' Thus, hatred is established for him on earth."
(Sahih Muslim)

8. Hadith on Allah's Appreciation for Good Deeds: Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet (peace be
upon him) said, "Allah has recorded good and bad deeds and He made them clear. Whoever
intends to perform a good deed but does not do it, then Allah will record it as a complete good
deed. If he intends to do it and does so, then Allah the Exalted will record it as ten good deeds up
to seven hundred times as much or even more. If he intends to do a bad deed and does not do it,
then Allah will record for him a complete good deed. If he does it, then Allah will record for him
one bad deed." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

9. Hadith on Allah's Guidance: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be
upon him) said, "Allah has written down the decrees of creation fifty thousand years before He
created the heavens and the earth." (Sahih Muslim)

10. Hadith on Allah's Benevolence: Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon
him) said, "When Allah created the creation, He wrote in His Book with Him on His Throne: 'My
mercy prevails over My wrath.'" (Sahih al-Bukhari)
