Objective: This subject aims to develop the understanding of the basic principles of
management.

Unit-I Introduction: Concept, nature, process and significance of management;


Managerial levels, skills, functions and roles; Management vs
Administration; Coordination as essence of management.
Development of management thought: Classical, Neo-classical,
Behavioural, Systems and Contingency approaches.

Unit-II Planning: Nature, scope and objectives of planning; Types of plans;


Planning process; Business forecasting; MBO; Concept, types, process and
techniques of decision-making; Bounded Rationality.

Unit-III Organizing: Concept, nature, process and significance; Principles of an


organization; Span of Control; Types of an organization; Authority-
Responsibility; Delegation and Decentralization; Formal and Informal
Organization.

Unit-IV Motivation: Nature and Importance of motivation; Types of motivation;


Theories of motivation-Maslow, Herzberg, X, Y and Z;.
Leadership: Meaning and Importance; Traits of a leader; Leadership
Styles, Likert’s Systems of Management, Schmidt Model and Managerial
Grid.

Objective: The objective of this subject is to give understanding of the basic

Unit-II Consumer Behaviour: Cardinal Utility Approach: Diminishing Marginal


Utility, Law of Equi-Marginal Utility; Ordinal Utility Approach: Indifference
Curves, Marginal Rate of Substitution, Budget Line and Consumer
Equilibrium.

Unit-III Demand Analysis: Theory of Demand, Law of Demand, Concept of


Measurement of Elasticity of Demand, Factors Affecting Elasticity of
Demand, Income Elasticity of Demand, Cross Elasticity of Demand,
Demand Forecasting: Need, Objectives and Methods.

Unit-IV Theory of Production: Meaning and Concept of Production, Factors of


Production and production function, Fixed and Variable Factors, Law of
Variable Proportion, Law of Returns to a Scale.
Cost Analysis & Price Output Decisions: Concept of Cost, Cost Function,
Short Run Cost, Long Run Cost, Explicit Cost and Implicit Cost, Pricing
Under Perfect Competition, Pricing Under Monopoly, Control of Monopoly,
Price Discrimination, Pricing Under Monopolistic Competition, Pricing
Under Oligopoly.

Objective: This course aims at equipping students with the basic understanding of
mathematics used in business decisions

Unit-I Elementary functions; Basic concept of limit; Differentiation;


Differentiation of explicit function and implicit functions; Higher
derivatives; Applications of higher derivatives: Maxima and Minima;
Marginal Analysis: Optimization of Cost function, Revenue function and
Profit function.

Unit-II Mathematics of finance; different types of interest; compounding and


discounting of a sum using different types of rates; Types of Annuities:
future and present values of annuities using different types of rates of
interest including the case of continuous compounding; valuation of
simple loans and debentures; sinking funds

Unit-III Liner Programming Problems: Formulation of Linear Programming


Problems: Graphical Method of solution: cases of unique, multiple or
infinite solutions, unbounded solution and redundant constraints;
solution of Liner Programming Problems using Simplex method up to
three variables including cases of mixed constraints, Transportation
Problem; Assignment problem

Unit- IV Ordinary differential equations of first order & first degree; solution of
differential equations by method of separation of variables; Linear
differential equations and their solutions; Homogeneous differential
equations; Applications in Business

System and its Conversion.
Unit–II Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Memory: Components of CPU,
Functions of Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), and Control Unit. Primary
Memory (RAM & ROM); Secondary Memory, Input and Output Devices.
Database Management System (DBMS): Concept of Database, and DBMS,
Advantages and Applications. Relational DBMS, Structured Query Language
(SQL).
Unit-III Data Communication and Networking: Networking Concepts, Types of
Network (LAN, MAN, And WAN); Communication Media; Mode of
Transmission (Simplex, Half Duplex, Full Duplex); Analog and Digital

Network Topologies.
