One of the conflicts that the Philippines had encountered is corruption and may still be suffering from

it. There are various factors that causes corruption such as monopolystic powers, lack of
transparency, conflicting incentives, low salary, biased election, etc. These factors results to biased
tax systems where taxes are wasted and only the wealthy/ well connected are the benefactors. This
also results to poverty and people who suffers from it have low access to education because most
organizations are also corrupted. Aside from those, corruption also results to infrastructure, poor
economic growth and unfinished projects as most money only goes to the officials / the government.

In the illustration, The shovel, Axe and the seed represents the resolution that is needed to solve the
conflict. These tools/ items will be used to cut down the tree, dig out the roots and replace it with a
new seed to grow a new tree with a different structure/ result. This means that to solve corruption, we
need to change the whole system starting from its very roots because the ones who carry out
corruption is the government officials. However, the ones who made them sit on political seats are the
people which means that they are also the problem that needs to change.
