Each semester, the Education Undergraduate Society here at the University of Lethbridge
hosts a variety of Professional Development seminar opportunities for students in the Faculty of
Education. These sessions provide meaningful learning opportunities for aspiring educators. This
letter serves as a certificate which acknowledges and commends MACKENZIE MARTIN for
attending the following Professional Development sessions and workshops during the Fall 2023
semester:
Indigenous Education Resources - Where Do I Start?
Presented by the Alberta Teachers Association (Walking Together), this workshop provided students with various resources which will prove invaluable
when considering foundational knowledge of Indigenous culture in the classroom.

Presented by a valued member of the ULeth Faculty of Education, this session focused on practical elements of teaching and learning.

Who Am I? And What is My Responsibility?


Presented by a renowned local Indigenous author, this session opened the hearts and minds of students to the strength of a woman who endured the
horrors of residential schools in Canada, and how she has turned her trauma into hope for the future.

Teachers these Days: Finding Connection with Our Learners, Our Community and Ourselves
Presented by a local author and teacher, this presentation focused on the importance of making connections with our students, and with ourselves.

Finding Our Way in Indigenous Education - Connecting Hearts and Minds


Presented by the Alberta Teachers Association(Walking Together), this session focused on fostering Indigenous relationships in the classroom with
resources and strategies to deepen understanding.

Engaging in Numeracy and Connection through First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Traditional Games
Presented by the Alberta Teachers Association (Walking Together), this workshop provided attendees with various resources showing the ability of FNMI
traditional games to contribute to numeracy, and to education as a whole.

Supporting Gender and Relationship Diversity in School Communities


Presented by the Alberta Teachers Association, this workshop provided insight on how we can foster accepting classrooms..
