I believe that there’s one thing that all of us here repeatedly do everyday, which is listening
to music. We look up music on youtube, spotify during free time or just leave music on in the
background while doing assignments. The most mainstream genre of our generations is
undisputely KPOP, but there’s one that i believe we listen to just as much and deserve more
recognition: Classical music.
How many classical composers do you know?
*call up classmates to answer
Thank you for your contribution, we’ve all probably heard of Mozart, beethoven,.. and one
who’s my favorite is Frederic Chopin. And i’m going be giving you an introduction on 3 of his
pieces to give you an overview of you’re missing out on if you haven’t listening to him much.

Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period, who wrote
primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his
era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without
equal in his generation". And listeners can find proof of that through his pieces, 2 of which
i’m going to be introducing

Mazurka is a Classical music form originating from a traditional polish dance, with the best
known being 59 mazurkas from chopin.
MUSIC: Mazurka op 50 n 3
By using this Polish folk dance as a source of inspiration, he was able to express his
pride and nostalgia for his homeland when his homeland back then was being invaded
by Russia in the early 1800s.

His signature romantic and sentimental elements are not only found in his mazurkas but
also in his adaptations of operas, namely “la ci darem la mano”, a solo piano adaption of
Mozart’s Don Giovanno, which is about a womanizer playboy named Don Juan facing
the consequences for his carefree and adulterous way of living,
MUSIC: La ci darem la mano
La ci darem la mano potrays his musical ingenuity in every complex variation. Although
Chopin had never written any operas, but his adaption is said to be one of his most
successful manuscripts.

Now that you’ve listened to small snitches from my favorite pieces. I hope I’ve done a
good job in persuading you to continue to explore the rest of Chopin’s work. We should
all explore a variety of artists from all genres to avoid missing out on great music.
